Having assured themselves of at least a bronze, Satwik and Chirag will now face the sixth-seeded pair of Chia andYik in the semifinals.

“We don’t want to stop here. We want to go further. But this is what we were aiming for. We wanted to keep our body fit and do well,” Satwik told reporters after the match.

The Indian pair won the first game 24-22, before losing 15-21 and then winning 21-14

Saina Nehwal had already bowed out of the competition post her loss in a hard-fought women’s singles pre-quarterfinal match.
