Jay Shah shuts critics by his take on Virat Kohli’s leaves against England
Jay Shah has spoken about the leaves taken by Virat Kohli during the Test series against England. The secretary of the Indian Cricket Board was in an interview where he was asked about the reason behind the star cricketer opting out of the series against England. Jay backed Virat for his decision to opt out of the series against England.
Jay felt that a person who represented India for 15 years straight without taking much rest deserves to get rest when he wishes to. He added that Virat is one such cricketer who does not ask for leave without any major reason. The secretary of the Indian Cricket Board felt that the players needed backing from the fans and the board.
“If a person, for the first time in a 15-year career, asks for personal leave, it’s his right. Virat is not a player who will ask for leave for no reason. We need to trust our player and back him,” said the secretary of the Indian Cricket Board in his statement. India recently announced its squad for the last three Test against England. It did not feature Virat, which received mixed reactions from the fans.
‘India will lift the 2024 T20 World Cup under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy’ – Jay Shah
When asked if Kohli would be ready to play the fifth Test at Dharamshala, Jay claimed that they would talk about it with Virat soon. “We will talk about it with him [soon],” added Shah in his statement. Jay was further asked about India’s campaign in the T20 WC 2024. He was confident of India winning the tournament under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.
“I am confident that India will lift the 2024 T20 World Cup under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy in Barbados,” Jay claimed. It raised the eyebrows of the fans who are of the opinion that the star batter might lead India in the major tournament. Sharma has been the Indian captain in the last two years or so. He led India in the major tournaments like the WTC 2nd cycle, the T20 WC 2022, and the ODI WC 2023.

Australian Media Criticizes Rohit Sharma After Crushing Defeat to Australia
Following India’s heavy loss to Australia in the first Test of the series, Australian media highlighted key concerns for the Indian team, including Rohit Sharma’s performance as captain. Pat Cummins and his team’s emphatic win by 209 runs sparked discussions about India’s bowling strategy and batting collapse.
Australian newspapers like The Age underscored Mitchell Starc’s lethal bowling display as a stark reminder of his prowess in Test cricket. Starc’s fiery spell dismantled India’s top order, a performance seen as pivotal in Australia’s dominant victory. The media also pointed out the pressure mounting on Rohit Sharma for tactical shortcomings, including field placements and decision-making under challenging circumstances.
India’s batting lineup faltered against Australia’s aggressive bowling, with only a few players resisting. Critics emphasized that the Indian team’s inability to adapt to the pink-ball conditions in Adelaide cost them dearly. The media also praised Australia for its disciplined approach, particularly the consistency of its pace attack, which Starc and Cummins led.
As the series progresses, this defeat puts India under immense pressure to bounce back, especially with the spotlight on Rohit Sharma’s leadership and the team’s resilience. Fans now await India’s response in the next Test.
