Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya has made a huge claim on playing for milestones. The star cricketer was recently with broadcasters for the promo shoot of the IPL 2024. Along with Hardik, there were other cricketers like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer, who were also a part of the promo to promote the 17th edition of the IPL. During the shoot, the cricketers appeared in a question-answer segment.

During the segment, the new Mumbai Indians skipper was asked about his take on milestones. Pandya, who is known to be a critic of playing for milestones, spoke the same when asked. Hardik claimed that scoring runs to get to a fifty or a hundred is not the right way to bat. The star player claimed that he does not generally believe in achieving individual feats.

As per his statement, Hardik added that stats are just numbers and means nothing to him. He concluded by saying that the collection of stats is a waste of time. “I generally don’t believe in the fifties or hundreds. Stats are just numbers to me, a waste of time,” said Hardik about stats and milestones. The statement of the MI skipper has gone viral on various social media platforms.

Fans furious over Hardik Pandya

While some believe that Hardik is right about the stats and milestones and regarded them to not have much relevance on the performances of a team, others believed that Pandya was wrong in saying so. The fans have slammed the All-rounder for his statement assuming that he took a dig at certain players. It seems like the former Gujarat Titans player has landed himself in a bit of trouble for his opinion.

Even in the past, Hardik has been a target of fans who believe that the stats do count a lot for the individuals. In 2023, India toured the West Indies for a T20I series which saw Hardik as the skipper. In one of the matches in the series, Hardik was trolled by the fans for not allowing Tilak Varma to score fifty.

Mohammad Rizwan has come under heavy fire for his performance during Pakistan’s loss to South Africa in a high-stakes match. His inability to accelerate scoring when required drew ire from fans and analysts alike, with many questioning his intent and decision-making under pressure.

While Rizwan’s cautious approach ensured some stability, it proved inadequate against South Africa’s aggressive game plan.
