Fakhar Zaman expected to sit out for Pakistan’s upcoming match

The team doctor explained why Fakhar Zaman will be missing from Pakistan’s upcoming match.

The team doctor explained Fakhar Zaman’s ailment, which would likely keep him out of Pakistan’s forthcoming T20 World Cup match against South Africa.

Fakhar Zaman is expected to miss Pakistan’s crucial T20 World Cup 2022 match against South Africa. Many fans and analysts have criticized the PCB for taking a chance on the batter after he aggravated the knee ailment that had already precluded him from playing. Usman Qadir was replaced by him when he was late added to Babar Azam’s T20 World Cup team. Zaman didn’t play in the losses to Zimbabwe and India but did participate in the victory over the Netherlands. He scored 20 runs off of 16 balls against the Dutch, but he also made his ailment worse.

The Pakistani team doctor, Najeebullah Soomro, described the matter to ESPNcricinfo and said that they were aware of the dangers in entering Fakhar into the competition. He said, “Obviously with any knee injury it takes time to have 100% recovery.”

“Fakhar and the team understood the risks of coming into the tournament and we got him in. You saw how he performed with batting in the last match, unfortunately in the last match he had a bit of a twist which aggravated his injury.”

“We were aware of the risks of the comeback. He is obviously an important player for the team. The player, the medical staff and the team management were aware of that. We decided to bring him back in. In cricket, and any sport, we take risks. Sometimes they pay off, sometimes they don’t”, he further added.

To keep their championship ambitions alive, Pakistan must defeat South Africa on Thursday at the SCG in Sydney.
