‘Loan lete rehna 1st reason…?’ – Virender Sehwag gives mouth-shutting reply to Pakistan fan for mocking him

Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag hailed Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman’s sensational innings that helped his team to be in the hunt for the semi-finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup. On the back of Zaman’s blistering century, Pakistan beat New Zealand by 21 runs vs the DLS method after rain played spoilsport at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on November 4.

The former India opener praised Zaman as Pakistan’s best ODI batter and slammed the selectors and captain Babar Azam for their decision to bench him in the early stages of the tournament. The Men in Green had lost a few matches in a row, reducing their chances of qualification. However, Pakistan returned to winning ways in their last two matches and Zaman excelled with the bat in both matches.

Imam-ul-Haq was the replacement for Zaman in the initial matches. While praising Zaman, Sehwag had also taken a jibe at Imam who had earlier said that the team hasn’t hit a lot of sixes because of less protein consumption.

“What an innings by Fakhar Zaman, by far Pakistan’s best batter. Which brains kept him on the bench for the best part of the tournament, God knows. Protein ki bhi kami nahin, jajbe ki bhi . #NZvsPak,” he wrote.

Sehwag hits back at Pakistani fan

Meanwhile, a Pakistani fan could not digest Sehwag praising Zaman and the way the Indian mocked his players. A user named @faizanriaz7 took to his X handle and shared Sehwag’s tweet with a captain, “Jajbe” will be my 13th reason to thank Jinnah”.

Viru did not hesitate to hit back and he did so in the most befitting way. “Loan lete rehna 1st reason aur 8-0 second reason? Poora mulk hamaare jyada tar players ka naam galat leta hai aur ek Z mein inhe yaad aa gaye sab,” the former destructive opener wrote.

The second reason Sehwag cited was India’s unbeaten record against Pakistan in the ODI World Cup. Pakistan have never managed to beat India in the premier 50-over tournament. In the 2023 World Cup, the Men in Blue thrashed Babar Azam and his team by seven wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Following India’s heavy loss to Australia in the first Test of the series, Australian media highlighted key concerns for the Indian team, including Rohit Sharma’s performance as captain. Pat Cummins and his team’s emphatic win by 209 runs sparked discussions about India’s bowling strategy and batting collapse.

Australian newspapers like The Age underscored Mitchell Starc’s lethal bowling display as a stark reminder of his prowess in Test cricket. Starc’s fiery spell dismantled India’s top order, a performance seen as pivotal in Australia’s dominant victory. The media also pointed out the pressure mounting on Rohit Sharma for tactical shortcomings, including field placements and decision-making under challenging circumstances.

India’s batting lineup faltered against Australia’s aggressive bowling, with only a few players resisting. Critics emphasized that the Indian team’s inability to adapt to the pink-ball conditions in Adelaide cost them dearly. The media also praised Australia for its disciplined approach, particularly the consistency of its pace attack, which Starc and Cummins led.

As the series progresses, this defeat puts India under immense pressure to bounce back, especially with the spotlight on Rohit Sharma’s leadership and the team’s resilience. Fans now await India’s response in the next Test.
