WATCH: Crowd asks Rohit Sharma to not declare India’s innings against England in Rajkot

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma declared India’s innings when they were 430/4. In the second innings, India changed the complexion of the game. The duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan seemed tireless of scoring runs. Given the lack of time left in the Test match, India and Rohit decided to declare the innings. The move of Sharma did not go well with the fans.

As the Indian skipper signalled to declare their innings, the fans signalled the skipper to not take the decision. The fact that Sarfaraz Khan was unbeaten with a score of 68 and needed just a few overs to get to his maiden Test hundred meant that the fans requested Rohit to not declare the innings. However, the 37-year-old did not agree to the request of the fans.

Watch the viral video here:

The unfortunate guy in the middle was Sarfaraz who had an opportunity to score two hundreds in the same match but was undone in a bad way in the first innings and could not get to bat some more overs due to the declaration. While the debutant scored 62 runs in the first innings before getting dismissed, he scored 68 runs in the 2nd innings and was highly impressive with the bat.

India dominate fourth day of Rajkot Test

India dominated the fourth day of the Test both with the bat and with the ball. Jaiswal was the pick of the batters who scored his 2nd double-hundred in consecutive innings. He was assisted well by Sarfaraz, as the duo helped India to add a lot of runs at a very good rate. In the process, India gave England a target of 557 runs in the match.

Chasing it, England batters fell like a pack of cards. The Indian bowlers were right on the money from the start. But the daunting total to chase was a dent in the morale of the visiting batters who seemed to be on a pavilion parade. India took one and a half sessions to finish the innings of England in the second innings and registered a huge win in Rajkot.
