The 3rd of the ongoing 5-match T20I series between India and West Indies was played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Tuesday, August 8. The Men in Blue clinched a convincing victory by  wickets and kept themselves alive in the series. However, West Indies are still ahead 2-1 in the series.

Talking about the match, Windies skipper Rovman Powell opted to bat first after winning the toss. Openers Kyle Mayers and Brandon King provided a brilliant start to the team in the powerplay. Both stitched a 55-run stand for the first wicket before Axar Patel provided the first breakthrough to India by dismissing Mayers on the score of 25 runs.

Kuldeep Yadav got rid of struggling Johnson Charles in the 11th over of the match. However, Windies suffered a major setback when Kuldeep dismissed dangerous-looking Nicholas Pooran in the 15th over of the first innings. He also dismissed King in the same over.

Powell displayed a magnificent performance in the end and smashed 40 runs off just 19 balls which included 1 four and 3 sixes. His knock helped the Caribbean side to achieve a fighting total of 159 runs. Kuldeep was the star bowler for India as he picked 3 wickets while conceding only 28 runs in his 4 overs quota.

Brilliant batting performance by Suryakumar Yadav

Chasing the target, India lost their debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal in the very first over. Shubman Gill continued his horrible form and went back to the pavilion after scoring just 6 runs off 11 deliveries. However, the no. 1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav finally showed why he is currently the greatest T20I batter in the world.

Suryakumar played a terrific knock of 83 runs off just 44 deliveries. He smashed 10 fours and 4 sixes during the knock and stitched an 87-run stand with Tilak Varma for the 3rd wicket. However, he fell 17 runs short of his century but Varma remained unbeaten and played a brilliant 49* runs knock to help his team win the 3rd T20 match.
