Former England skipper Michael Vaughan feels India is lacking Virat Kohli’s aggressive captaincy
Michael Vaughan has made a huge claim on the captaincy of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The former England captain has felt that India is missing the aggression of Virat’s captaincy in recent times. It is quite evident that the Indian team is lacking the aggression that was present under the tenure of Kohli in test Cricket.
Vaughan felt that a team’s performance in Test Cricket might be dependent on the aggression of a skipper. In 2021, India won the Lord’s Test purely with aggressive instincts. The same happened in the Oval Test in the same year. There are many such instances where the aggression of the star cricketer was handy.
The former England batter felt that the aggression of Virat suited Indian Cricket which helped them to win a lot in Tests. “India miss Virat Kohli’s captaincy massively in Test cricket. Under Virat’s captaincy, India wouldn’t have lost 1st Test,” Vaughan claimed after the first Test between England and India.
Rohit just switched off completely – Michael Vaughan
Vaughan added that Rohit has not been aggressive in Tests as a captain. It is visible in the way Rohit sets the defensive field and does not go for the pacers in some of the crucial phases of the game. There has been a visible change in the Indian team in the ability to win the Test matches in difficult situations.
Vaughan felt that Rohit was a legend and a terrific player and added that the Indian captain was switched off completely in the Hyderabad Test as a captain. “Rohit is a legend and a great player, but I felt he just switched off completely,” added Vaughan after speaking about the loss of India in the 1st Test.
The visiting side currently has a lead of 1-0 in the series after the first Test at Hyderabad. Ahead of the 2nd Test, given the injuries of key players like Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul, given the absence of star players Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami, England starts as the favourites to win. India would be hoping to turn things around.

Janakpur Bolts Secure Playoff Spot in Nepal Premier League
The Janakpur Bolts clinched a playoff berth in the Nepal Premier League following a decisive victory over the Kathmandu Gurkhas. In a low-scoring encounter, the Gurkhas set a modest target of 102 runs, with their batting lineup struggling against the disciplined Bolts’ bowling attack. Sushan Bhari led the charge, taking crucial wickets and restricting the opposition’s scoring opportunities.
The Bolts chased the target with composure, showcasing strong batting performances from their top order. Opener Arjun Saud played a steady innings, while other batters ensured no major collapses en route to victory. For Kathmandu Gurkhas, the loss is a significant setback, leaving them on the brink of elimination. The team’s inability to capitalize on key moments, particularly in their batting, highlighted their struggles in the tournament.
With their playoff spot secured, the Bolts have demonstrated consistency and resilience, making them strong contenders for the title. Fans eagerly anticipate their upcoming matches as the tournament heads into its decisive stages.
