Former England cricketer questions over Rohit Sharma’s form in Test cricket ahead of 2nd Test against England
India lost the first Test against England by 28 runs as they fell short of chasing a target of 231 runs. Rohit Sharma has been questioned over his red-ball captaincy, the Men in Blue skipper has not been in fine form with the bat as well and his captaincy in the longest format has also been questioned several times. Though he has been one of the finest captains for India in the white-ball format.
Former England cricketer Geoffrey Boycott has raised questions over the 36-year-old batter. He believes that Rohit has passed his prime in the longest format of the game way earlier. Boycott shared his views over his batting performance, as he pointed out that the veteran opener has only scored two centuries at home for the country. The Englishman believes Stokes’ team can win a historic series against the hosts in their own backyard. Boycott also made a daring statement against India’s all-format skipper.
India are currently missing Virat Kohli who has returned, home for some personal issues. They will also be missing KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja due to injuries these two were the star performers in the 1st Test for the side.
Their captain Rohit Sharma is nearly 37 and past his best: Geoffroy Boycott
Boycott wrote in his column for the Telegraph, “Their captain Rohit Sharma is nearly 37 and past his best. He makes pretty cameos but has only scored two Test hundreds at home in four years. They are also weak in the field. This India team is ripe for the taking, and England have a golden chance to be the first side to topple them on their own patch for 12 years. India badly miss Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja has a hamstring injury and will not play the second Test.”
“India are due a defeat at home. The signs are good, as they have lost Kohli, Jadeja, Mohammed Shami and Rishabh Pant and are playing opponents full of confidence after a remarkable win. England must take this rare opportunity.”

Mohammad Rizwan Faces Backlash for Underwhelming Knock in Pakistan’s Loss to South Africa
Mohammad Rizwan has come under heavy fire for his performance during Pakistan’s loss to South Africa in a high-stakes match. Critics described his innings as lackluster, accusing him of playing a “shameless” and “criminal” knock that failed to meet the demands of the situation. His inability to accelerate scoring when required drew ire from fans and analysts alike, with many questioning his intent and decision-making under pressure.
While Rizwan’s cautious approach ensured some stability, it proved inadequate against South Africa’s aggressive game plan. His inability to shift gears in critical moments ultimately hurt Pakistan’s chances, and his performance sparked a broader debate about his role and strategy in the team’s batting order. Some commentators were particularly scathing, questioning how Rizwan could reflect on his effort given the circumstances.
The incident has added to the scrutiny of Pakistan’s overall performance in the tournament, with many demanding better strategies and execution from key players. Rizwan, regarded as a pivotal figure in the lineup, now faces the challenge of responding to the criticism and delivering under pressure in future matches.
