Suryakumar Yadav has been a major threat in T20Is, no doubt about it. And his No. 1 rank as a T20I batter is proof of it. His T20 exploits and 360-degree style batting helped him find his way into Indiaโ€™s ODI World Cup 2023 squad. The team management believed in his abilities and the head coach Rahul Dravid said that he was still finding his way into the ODI format.

And, going by his performances in the World Cup, especially in the final, Yadav has still not found his way in the ODI format. Yes, the pitch for the World Cup final in Ahmedabad on Sunday may have been on the slower side. He walked out to bat not at his customary No. 6 position but at No. 7 with the hope that his T20 style of batting would come in handy and fetch India some quick runs. But that didnโ€™t happen as he was able to score only 18 runs off 28 balls.

Suryakumar Yadav is likely to lead the Indian team in the T20I series against Australia

Meanwhile, the right-hander recently took to social media to express his disappointment over the heartbreaking 6-wicket loss to Australia in the World Cup final on Sunday. He thanked the fans for constantly supporting the Indian team throughout the tournament. However, fans, who are still recovering from the loss slammed him for his disappointing knock.

โ€œHeartbroken, this will take some time to sink in. Together in win, and in loss. Nothing will take away what this team means to all of us. We felt your immense love, support and energy every time we stepped on the field. THANK YOU, Congratulations to the Australian side.โ€ he tweeted.

Suryakumar might be seen leading the Indian team in the upcoming 5-match T20I series against Australia starting from November 23. However, the announcement is yet to be made. The team for the series is also yet to be announced. The senior players are likely to be rested and the youngsters or new faces will be seen playing the T20I series.
