Rahul Dravid gives update on Ishan Kishan’s future in Tests
Ishan Kishan has not been a part of the Indian Test setup in the last few weeks. The Southpaw opted out of the series against South Africa to get some rest, after being a part of the Indian team in major tournaments like the Asia Cup 2023 and the ODI WC 2023. Speaking of which, Dravid has explained the things Kishan needs to do for his return to the side.
Dravid felt that Kishan needed to be available for selections. The star player has not made himself available for the selection after he decided to not be a part of the series against South Africa. Dravid claimed that they (Indian management) are in touch with Kishan. “Ishan Kishan needs to start playing to be considered for selection, we are in touch with him,” said Dravid.
The Indian Head coach was in the press conference after India won the 2nd Test against England at Vizag. India won the match against England by 106 runs. One of the talking points of the match was the keeping of KS Bharat. While he did well as a Wicketkeeper, the batting of Bharat was not as impressive. Hence, the availability of Kishan was asked for Dravid.
Ishan Kishan unlikely to be a part of the last three Tests against England
Earlier before the series against England, the Indian squad for the first two Tests was announced, Kishan was not a part of it. When asked about the same, the JSCA president claimed that Kishan did not contact them about his participation. It was the exact reply of the Indian management. It seems like Kishan is not interested in returning to Test cricket soon.
“No, Ishan hasn’t contacted us or told us anything about his availability. Whenever he tells us, he will walk into the playing XI,” Debasis said. India is set to pick the squad for the last three Tests of the series against England. Before it, there is a huge doubt regarding Ishan’s participation in the series. It looks like Kishan would play in the IPL 2024 straightaway for Mumbai Indians.

Roberts critiqued Mohammed Siraj, stating he has yet to reach the same level as Bumrah and Shami. He highlighted that Shami’s ability to relentlessly hit good lengths and extract movement makes him India’s standout bowler. He urged Indian cricket to focus more on nurturing such talent for long-term success in international cricket.
