Moeen Ali criticises Lahore cuisine, creates controversy

Karachi and Lahore are the two biggest cities of Pakistan.

The two cities are the cradle of Pakistani cricket and have produced legends such Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Zaheer Abbas, Abdul Qadir and Wasim Akram.

Naturally, they all are fierce rivals, not only in cricketing terms but also in every sphere of life.

In this context, the people of Lahore were stunned by Moeen Ali’s throwaway comment, after the conclusion of the 7th T20 match between England and Pakistan.

“Food wise, I’ve been a little bit disappointed in Lahore. Karachi was really nice,” Ali shared in a post-match press conference.

His comment since then has sparked a huge debate on social media on which city produces better food.

After all, Lahore is known for its rich food culture and the Fort Road Food Street is a popular place among many visiting cricket teams.

Hence, Moeen’s comment now is unlikely to win him any fans in Lahore.

Interestingly, Moeen was born in Karachi and this might explain his ‘choice’.

Moeen Ali also praised the hospitality he received during his stay in Pakistan.

“It was a good series for us as English players performed well throughout the series,” he said.

“The security has been outstanding and much more than we expected. We were looked after very well,” he added.

Pakistan lost the seven-match series after losing the final T20I against England by 67 runs.

The England team was missing several of their stars, including captain Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes.
