After getting beaten in the first match of the ongoing 5-match T20I series against West Indies, the Indian team came back in action for the 2nd T20I at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Sunday, August 6. The first contest was enough to tell that the Men in Blue missed the presence of their star senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Meanwhile, India’s young sensation and opener Shubman Gill continued his horrible form and got out on just 7 runs in the first innings of the match. Gill faced 9 balls and was able to score only 7 runs however, he hit a six but still struggling to make connections. Fans have started criticising him on social media and are saying that the management could’ve gone with Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Talking about India’s innings, opted to first, the opening pair of Ishan Kishan and Gill once again disappointed the fans. They both went back to the pavilion after the score of just 18 runs. And once again, it was Tilak Varma, who was playing just his 2nd T20I game, steadied the ship and smashed the maiden half-century of his career.

Brilliant bowling performance by West Indies

However, the no. 1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav failed once again and got himself run out for just 1 run. No other batter except Varma was able to contribute anything to the scoreboard. The left-hander scored 51 runs off 41 balls which included 5 fours and 1 six.

Skipper Hardik Pandya scored 24 runs and helped the Indians to achieve a fighting total of 152 runs. Akeal Hosein and Alzarri Joseph were the stars with the ball for West Indies as they both picked up 2 wickets each in their 4 overs quota. Allrounder Romario Shepherd also picked up 2 wickets in 3 overs while conceding only 28 runs. It’d be shocking if Windies win the match and get the 2-0 lead over the strong Indian team.
