Rishabh Pant suffered career-threatening injuries in an accident last year while travelling via road from Delhi to Rourkee to his home. However, the Indian wicketkeeper batter has progressed well. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation in Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy. In the latest update, Pant was seen lifting bars possibly working on his back.

However, it is highly unlikely that Pant would be able to play a part in the upcoming ODI World Cup. It is expected that he would be back before the South Africa series. As such, there are still a few positives to note for Team India. Jasprit Bumrah has returned to action again and so has KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. But, only Jasprit Bumrah’s return has been somewhat specified. Reports suggested that he’d be playing in the Ireland series next month.
Talking of Pant, he is sure to miss the ODI World Cup. “The general impression is that he is recovering faster than anticipated, but it will take seven to eight months to be cricket-fit. That said it could take even longer for him to do the wicketkeeping and the initial comeback period will have to be solely as a batter, which is still considered an asset,” Cricbuzz had reported earlier.
Rishabh Pant missed entire IPL 2023
Rishabh Pant also missed out on IPL 2023 among other vital actions. However, the batter showed up at a few home games to support his team Delhi Capitals who found unique ways to keeping Pant in their remembrance. “He’s looking forward to supporting us as much as he can. I am sure he’ll try his best to come and see us. But we want him to recover, take it slow and easy and get better as fast as he can,” David Warner said ahead of IPL 2023. Notably, Warner was appointed the captain of the franchise following Pant’s unavailability.
Pant has been keeping fans in the know of his recovery updates. He earlier posted videos of walking without crutches and also walking up the stairs. His movement has been more and more promising with every new video.
