Ishan Kishan’s snub and Virat Kohli’s role in Team India addressed
Ishan Kishan was not picked in the T20I squad against Afghanistan which was announced recently. Afghanistan will be in India for a bilateral series of 3 matches in T20Is. India got back its senior batters like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. For the first time since the semifinal match against England in the T20 WC 2022, the two have been picked in a T20I series.
The other big news in the squad of India was the snub of some of the regulars like Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer. The former was the vice-captain of India in the T20I series against SA which was concluded just a month ago. On the other hand, the latter was a regular on the Indian side in the last 2 years. There have been questions raised about the snub of the two.
Reports claim that Kishan was not communicated by the selectors before picking the squad for the series against Afghanistan. The news comes following the fact that Kishan had asked for a leave from national services during the series against SA in Tests. It is also said that Kishan appeared in a TV show without getting permission from the Indian Cricket Board.

It has also been reported that Kishan is not available on calls for anyone after the snub against Afghanistan in T20Is. On the other hand, there has been a focus on the T20I comeback of Virat and Rohit. There have been conversations between the two along with the chief selector of India, Ajit Agarkar, when he toured South Africa to communicate with the two.
The motive of the communication was to let them know of the improvements they have to make to be in the team. Virat Kohli’s Strike Rate in the middle overs have not been impressive lately. The talk happened about the same. On the other hand, Rohit’s consistency was also discussed during the meeting. When India plays Afghanistan in the series, one can get to see how the approach of the two batters would be in the format.

Ben Curran, brother of England cricketers Sam and Tom Curran, has earned his maiden call-up to Zimbabwe’s ODI squad for the upcoming series against Afghanistan. The Curran family has deep ties to Zimbabwean cricket, with Ben’s father, Kevin Malcolm Curran, and grandfather, Kevin Patrick Curran, representing Zimbabwe internationally.
The series begins with T20Is on December 11, followed by ODIs and Tests. Ben will feature exclusively in the 50-over format.
