‘Gauti bhai ke aage koi bol sakta hai kya’ – Fans react to Gautam Gambhir’s cryptic one-liner post after Sreesanth makes serious claims on LLC 2023 fight

S Sreesanth & Gautam Gambhir

Former Indian cricketers Gautam Gambhir and S Sreesanth have once again grabbed the limelight with their on-field spat. During a Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2023 match between Gujarat Giants (GG) and India Capitals (IC) in Surat on Wednesday, the two World Cup-winning teammates got into a heated exchange.

Controversy flared up in the second over of the LLC 2023 Eliminator when Gambhir hit Sreesanth for a four and a six in consecutive deliveries. The Giants pacer managed to make the next delivery a dot ball. This was followed by some words from Sreesanth and Gambhir handled it with a death stare. A video that has gone viral on social media shows the two exchanging words in the later stages of the game.

After the match, Sreesanth took to his social meida account to reveal the reason behind the incident and slammed the Capitals skipper for his behaviour. The right-arm seamer alleged that Gambhir used ‘very rude’ language and labelled him as ‘Mr. Fighrer’. Meanwhile, the opening batter responded to Sreesanth’s claims but seemed not to add to the fire.

On Thursday morning, Gambhir posted a cryptic note with a throwback picture of him smiling at the Indian team’s training session. “Smile when the world is all about attention,” the 42-year-old posted.

He kept on calling me something which was very rude: Sreesanth

The ugly brawl took the spotlight away from Gambhir’s scintillating half-century that helped Capitals reach Qualifier 2 of LLC 2023. In the video posted by Sreesanth, he can be heard saying that “Mr fighter” repeatedly provoked him by saying something “very rude”.

“Just wanted to clear the air with what happened with Mr fighter. One who always fights with all his colleagues. For no reason whatsoever. He does not even respect his senior players, including Viru bhai. That’s exactly what happened today. Without any provocation, he just kept on calling me something which was very rude which shouldn’t have been said by Mr Gautam Gambhir,” Sreesanth said.

Following India’s heavy loss to Australia in the first Test of the series, Australian media highlighted key concerns for the Indian team, including Rohit Sharma’s performance as captain. Pat Cummins and his team’s emphatic win by 209 runs sparked discussions about India’s bowling strategy and batting collapse.

Australian newspapers like The Age underscored Mitchell Starc’s lethal bowling display as a stark reminder of his prowess in Test cricket. Starc’s fiery spell dismantled India’s top order, a performance seen as pivotal in Australia’s dominant victory. The media also pointed out the pressure mounting on Rohit Sharma for tactical shortcomings, including field placements and decision-making under challenging circumstances.

India’s batting lineup faltered against Australia’s aggressive bowling, with only a few players resisting. Critics emphasized that the Indian team’s inability to adapt to the pink-ball conditions in Adelaide cost them dearly. The media also praised Australia for its disciplined approach, particularly the consistency of its pace attack, which Starc and Cummins led.

As the series progresses, this defeat puts India under immense pressure to bounce back, especially with the spotlight on Rohit Sharma’s leadership and the team’s resilience. Fans now await India’s response in the next Test.
