Virat Kohli reached his 29th Test century in his 500th International game as India took on West Indies in the second Test of the series at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad. Kohli smashed 121 off 206 as India posted a mammoth 438, batting first. Virat Kohli finally ended his overseas century drought and celebrated his 76th international hundred by kissing his wedding ring, giving a heartwarming tribute to his actress wife Anushka Sharma.
Anushka also responded to her husband’s glorious achievement. She posted a photo of her TV set at the frame where Kohli completes his century and starts celebrating with his bat held high and arms wide. She added a red heart emoji. Notably, Anushka has always been a pillar of support for Virat Kohli. She is often seen in stands cheering her husband on with passion. It is only natural that Kohli tries to honour her contribution to his career with his ‘ring-kissing’ celebration from time to time.
Sachin Tendulkar also took to Twitter to praise Virat Kohli
Former Indian star batter, Sachin Tendulkar also joined the chorus and congratulated Virat Kohli with a special tweet. Moreover, this was Virat Kohli’s 76th international century which means he is 24 behind the big man. Talking of the game, India posted 438, helped by a fabulous opening partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal (57 off 74) and Rohit Sharma (80 off 143). Later Virat Kohli’s century and fifties by Ravindra Jadeja (61 off 152) and Ravichandran Ashwin (56 off 78) helped India post a massive total.
In reply, West Indies started well with an opening stand of 71 between Tagenarine Chanderpaul and skipper Kraigg Brathwaite. However, Ravindra Jadeja broke the partnership forcing Chanderpaul into mistiming a shot for an easy catch to Ravichandran Ashwin. The hosts have closed out the day at 86/1, trailing the visitors by 352 runs. Skipper Brathwaite is unbeaten on 37 off 128 and is joined by Kirk McKenzie batting at 14* off 25. Notably, McKenzie has already hit a boundary and a maximum in his 14-run knock so far.
