Akash Deep

Akash Deep was emotional after he made a dream debut for India in Tests against England. Akash remembered the challenges he faced on his way to make his Test debut for India. The right-arm pacer revealed that he lost his brother and father in the last year and felt that his family played a big role in where he is today.

“It was very emotional for me to get the Debut cap – I lost my father & brother in a year, my journey has been tough & my family played a big role,” said Deep. On the first day of the 4th Test in Ranchi, Akash claimed three big wickets in the very first session. All three wickets were off the top-order batters. Akash dismissed Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, and Ollie Pope.

In a single over, Akash dismissed both Crawley and Pope. While the RCB pacer was expensive after his initial spell, the fans were impressed with the way the right-arm pacer operated from his end, particularly with the new ball. As Joe Root got set in the middle, he looked to play out the difficult overs and targeted the other bowlers. Deep troubled Root in the first spell.

England recover well from early collapse

After Deep got the big wickets at the start, India had England at 112/5 at the end of the first session. England was one wicket away from throwing away the game. However, a crucial partnership between Joe and Ben Foakes for the 6th wicket helped the visiting side to stay alive in the game. Foakes added 47 runs with the bat for England.

It was the day of Root. The experienced batter has not had a great series till now. However, there was a change in approach to the way he went about his batting in Ranchi. Root played conventional shots and troubled the bowlers. Towards the end of the day, Root got good support from Ollie Robinson. In the process, the star batter got to his 31st Test hundred, 10th against India.
