India and Ireland clashed against each other in the 2nd match of the 3-match T20I series at The Village in Dublin on Sunday, August 20. The Men in Blue displayed a brilliant all-round performance and defeated Ireland by 33 runs and also sealed the series 2-0.

Talking about the match, Ireland won the toss and opted to bowl first. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal looked in great touch but departed after scoring 18 runs. Left-handed batter Tilak Varma, who had a brilliant run in the T20Is series against West Indies, couldn’t do much and got out on just 1 run.

However, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson steadied the ship and stitched a 71-run stand for the 3rd wicket. Gaikwad scored 58 runs off 43 balls which included 6 fours and 1 six. On the other hand, Samson smashed 40 runs off just 26 balls which included 5 fours and 1 six.

But, it was Rinku Singh and Shivam Dube who provided an amazing finishing touch to the innings and stitched a 55-run partnership. They helped the team to achieve a monumental total of 184 runs. Rinku scored 38 runs off just 21 balls which included 2 fours and 3 sixes. Dube also played well and scored 22 runs with the help of 2 sixes.

The Irish team started losing back-to-back wickets but Balbirnie kept the one end safe and also kept the scoreboard running. But Arshdeep dismissed him in the 16th over and also confirmed the hosts’ loss. Ireland’s tailender couldn’t do much and the team were restricted to just 152 runs. Indian skipper Jasprit Bumrah was the star with the ball as he conceded only 15 runs and picked up 2 wickets in his 4 overs quota.
