The Apex Board of Cricket has released its ODI Team of the Year for 2023. The format was the most dominant one in the year and saw some incredible performances from many players. Hence, it was difficult to pick the players for many. The Apex Board found the same difficulty and came up with its team, which featured six Indian players in the lineup.

The openers in the team are Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, the two Indian openers, who were brilliant in the year. While Gill was incredible throughout the year, Rohit was superb in the ODI WC 2023. Gill scored more than 1500 runs in the year and Rohit scored them at a rate of over 120, which is great for an opener. To follow them at 3 would be Travis Head of Australia.

Although Head missed out on many ODIs and did not bat at 3 for Australia, it seems like the pick was made for the match-winning abilities of the batter. In the middle order, Virat Kohli is being picked at number 4. The star batter was at his best yet again in the year. in the ODI WC 2023, Virat set many records. To follow Virat would be Daryl Mitchell, who played great knocks.

Indian bowlers dominate the attack

At numbers 6 and 7, there is the South African duo of Heinrich Klaasen and Marco Jansen respectively. Klaasen would also keep wickets in the team and Jansen would bring the required balance for the side at 7. Barring them, there is only one other bowler who is from a team other than India. Adam Zampa will be the orthodox leg spinner in the time who can bowl away from the right-handers.

The Indian bowling trio of Mohammed Shami, Mohammad Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav make the main bowling attack of the team. Shami broke records for fun in the ODI WC 2023. Siraj was brilliant with the new ball throughout the year. Kuldeep was the best spinner of the year and bowled well against the top sides in the world. Rohit is named the captain of the side.

Apex Board’s ODI Team of the Year 2023:

Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Travis Head, Virat Kohli, Daryl Mitchell, Heinrich Klaasen (WK), Marco Jansen, Adam Zampa, Mohammad Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami
