‘Ye referees ko rules samjao koi’ – Fans react as amid huge drama during Asian Games 2023 Kabaddi final clash, India clinch gold by defeating Iran
The final match of the Kabaddi tournament was played between India and Iran in Hangzhou on Saturday, October 7. The Men in Blue defeated Iran 33-29 to clinch the Gold medal, however, what caught the most attention was the controversy which lasted long for almost an hour.
In the closing moments of the second half of the match, there was a moment of confusion involving Pawan Sehrawat from the Indian team. He was declared out, and Iran scored a point, but Pawan contested, claiming he was out of bounds without being touched.
This triggered a review where India asked for four points, while Iran wanted Pawan’s points. Initially, the decision was to award one point to each side, resulting in Pawan and Bastami from Iran being declared out. However, this decision was quickly overturned, leading to further confusion.
India have crossed the 100-medal mark in Asian Games 2023
According to the old rule, India should have received four points as Pawan had gone out. Iran opposed this, arguing that the new rule would only give one point to each team. The situation became chaotic, and the AKFI secretary-general intervened to review the video footage. Ultimately, he ruled that each team would be awarded one point, in line with the new rule. However, later the contest resumed with India winning the match.
Talking about India’s medal tally, on the 14th day of the Asian Games, India’s medal count reached a total of 103. India’s archery athletes, Jyothi Surekha and Ojas Pravin Deotale, secured gold medals in the women’s and men’s compound events, respectively. In addition to that, Abhishek Verma won a silver medal, and Aditi Gopichand earned a bronze in archery. India‘s women’s kabaddi team claimed the gold medal by defeating Chinese Taipei in the final and of course the men’s team also secured a gold medal after a controversial final match against Iran.

Janakpur Bolts Clinch Victory in Inaugural Nepal Premier League Final
Nepal Premier League Final! Janakpur Bolts clinched the inaugural Nepal Premier League title by defeating Sudurpaschim Royals in a thrilling final. The Bolts showcased remarkable resilience, chasing down a target of 187 runs with five wickets in hand at the TU International Cricket Ground.
Sudurpaschim Royals, batting first, set a competitive total of 184 for nine wickets, led by Saif Zaib and Binod Bhandari. Zaib scored a solid 69 runs, while Bhandari added a crucial 41. However, their middle order failed to capitalize on a strong start, succumbing to disciplined bowling from Janakpur’s attack.
Kishor Mahato and Mohammad Mohisin starred with the ball for Janakpur, each claiming three wickets. Lalit Rajbanshi bowled an exceptional spell, conceding just 15 runs, including a maiden over. Their efforts restricted Sudurpaschim from posting a more imposing total.
In response, Janakpur’s Lahiru Milantha led the charge with a stunning 87 runs off 49 balls, including six fours and as many sixes. His innings anchored the chase, despite early pressure from Sudurpaschim’s bowlers. Aasif Sheikh, the Janakpur captain, played a vital supporting role, ensuring a composed finish.

Bollywood’s Struggle with Superstar Potential: Insights from Film Experts
Bollywood fans have long admired stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. However, many filmmakers struggle to bring out the full potential of these superstars. In an exclusive discussion with Pinkvilla, YouTuber and film critic Anmol Jamwal, along with marketing director Varun Gupta, highlighted this issue.
They noted that South Indian filmmakers, like Atlee and AR Murugadoss, consistently bring out the best in actors. Atlee’s work with Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan and Murugadoss’ handling of Aamir Khan in Ghajini were key examples. Both directors showcased their stars in new ways, leading to blockbuster successes.
Himesh Mankad, a trade analyst, explained that trust between the actor and director is essential. He mentioned that when actors feel safe with directors, they perform better. He gave an example of Salman Khan’s suggestions during filming. Mankad said it’s up to the director to pick the right ideas and reject the wrong ones.
Anmol Jamwal questioned if Bollywood stars are willing to adapt. He pointed to Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and noted that many films lack strong scripts. He asked if directors like Atlee could bring precision and elevate the material.
Varun Gupta spoke about how directors need to earn an actor’s trust. He pointed out that Ranveer Singh trusts Aditya Dhar because Dhar has proven himself in his genre. Gupta noted that in the South, filmmakers work hard to ensure both the stars and stories succeed.
The trio agreed that the audience plays a key role. Varun explained that watching films in South India is a part of everyday life. In contrast, Bollywood needs to work harder to earn the audience’s trust after disappointing films. The experts concluded that films like Jawan and Kabir Singh prove that great results come when the director and actor trust each other.
