For the first time in the history of cricket, 20 teams will be taking part in a single edition of the T20 WC. The tournament is set to be jointly hosted by the West Indies and the USA. 20 teams are divided into 5 groups of 4 teams each who will go through a rigorous process to enter the Knockout stage of the tournament. Yuvraj claimed that the format for the tournament was very good.
Yuvraj was along with Gautam Gambhir in an interview with a thumbs up, where the two were invited to discuss the chance of all the sides in the big tournament. The former World Cup winners gave their opinions regarding the same. Both the players played with each other in the T20 WC 2007 and the ODI WC 2011 which were won by India earlier this century.
Yuvraj Singh’s favorite to win the T20 World Cup 2024
Yuvraj claimed South Africa as the favourite to win the T20 WC 2024. The former Indian batter said that the progress of the side in recent times in limited overs cricket would help them to win the maiden title. Yuvraj said that SA have not won a tournament and would be hungry to win it. Yuvraj also felt that Pakistan is a dangerous side in the T20 WC 2024.
“I have a different opinion here… and I think South Africa will win. They have not won a white-ball tournament and the way I saw their progress in the 50-over World Cup. And then obviously there’s Pakistan, who is very dangerous,” said the former Indian cricketer. India will be playing in the T20 WC 2024 where they are mingled along with Pakistan in the same group.

Roberts critiqued Mohammed Siraj, stating he has yet to reach the same level as Bumrah and Shami. He highlighted that Shami’s ability to relentlessly hit good lengths and extract movement makes him India’s standout bowler. He urged Indian cricket to focus more on nurturing such talent for long-term success in international cricket.
