WATCH: R Ashwin guesses price of few players in IPL 2024 auction through cricket shots, names two players who will fetch over Rs 14 crores
The build-up for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season has already been given by Mumbai Indians (MI) and Hardik Pandya. Now that the mini-auction is set to take place in Dubai on Tuesday, December 19, the hype will double. With hours left for the bidding war, excitement is at its peak among fans and India’s off-spin legend Ravichandran Ashwin is one of them.
The veteran cricketer took to his Instagram handle to share a video of him guessing the prices of a few players in the upcoming auction through some cricket shots. “#IPLAuctions are just a day away and well, I tried to guess the price of a few players through cricket shots.. Do you agree with me?,” he captioned.
Ashwin believes that the two Australian stars can fetch over Rs 14 crore in the IPL 2024 auction. Surprisingly, World Cup hero Travis Head is not one of them. He feels that the Aussie pace duo of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc will be in high demand. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) bowler put Head in the category of INR 4 crores. It comes as a big surprise as the opening batter is expected to fetch a hefty sum for his heroics in the 2023 World Cup, including the final against India.
Ashwin expects Harshal Patel to bag good deal
Meanwhile, New Zealand young sensation Rachin Ravindra, according to Ashwin, will fetch around Rs 4 and 7 crore signings. South African pacer Gerald Coetzee and Royal Challengers Bangalore‘s (RCB) release Harshal Patel were placed in the same category between Rs 7 and 10 crore.
India’s veteran seamer Umesh Yadav will fetch around Rs 4 to 7 crore, Ashwin said, while Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) release Shah Rukh Khan is tipped to earn between 10 and 14 crore in a proper bidding war. He believes West Indies T20I skipper Rovman Powell will get INR 4 to 7 crores.
Ashwin is currently gearing up for the upcoming Test series in South Africa. With 489 wickets, the 37-year-old is just 11 wickets away from scripting history by picking up 500 Test wickets. Recently, Australian spinner Nathan Lyon became the second off-spinner to achieve this milestone in the first Test against Pakistan, and had Ashwin congratulated him.
