3 reasons why Cameron Green can be a game changer for RCB
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) made a massive move right ahead of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) mini-auction. In what could be seen as a helping hand for Mumbai Indians (MI), the Bangalore-based franchise traded the Australian all-rounder for a massive sum of Rs 17.5 crore. MI wanted to land their former all-rounder Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans (GT) and by trading Green they got enough money in the bank.
In this article, we examine three reasons why Cameron Green could be a game-changer for RCB
#1. Excellent record in India
Cameron Green made his IPL debut last season for MI and proved as a valuable asset to the team in both departments. The Aussie young gun scored 452 runs at an average of 50 and a strike rate of 160 with two fifties and a century. He also picked up six wickets. In fact, he was one of the main reasons why MI made it to the playoffs.
Apart from his heroics in the cash-rich league, he also hit two blazing half-centuries as a T20I opener for Australia last year. He proved that he is an all-format player with his maiden Test century in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Ahmedabad last year. Indian conditions are among the most difficult to play in and Green has shown his skills.
#2. Relief for RCB’s middle-order woes
“He’s the ideal fit for us in that middle-order power role,” RCB’s director of cricket Mo Bobat said. RCB’s top order has not been a problem, but their middle order has been inconsistent in the past. However, that problem seems to have been solved with the addition of Green. He is a power-hitter and can destroy the bowlers right from the word go. He can be dangerous, especially at Chinnaswamy, RCB’s home ground. Notably, the 24-year-old is a versatile batter as he can bat in the top order as well, according to the team’s needs.
#1. Green can be a long-term investment for RCB
Green has already shown what he’s capable of and management may consider him a long-term investment. The Australians are match-winners and Green can work wonders in both departments along with his national teammate Glenn Maxwell. As RCB’s current skipper Faf du Plessis is already 39 years old, they need to find a possible captain for the coming seasons. If Green continues his fine form with the franchise, he is likely to get a leadership position.

Janakpur Bolts Secure Playoff Spot in Nepal Premier League
The Janakpur Bolts clinched a playoff berth in the Nepal Premier League following a decisive victory over the Kathmandu Gurkhas. In a low-scoring encounter, the Gurkhas set a modest target of 102 runs, with their batting lineup struggling against the disciplined Bolts’ bowling attack. Sushan Bhari led the charge, taking crucial wickets and restricting the opposition’s scoring opportunities.
The Bolts chased the target with composure, showcasing strong batting performances from their top order. Opener Arjun Saud played a steady innings, while other batters ensured no major collapses en route to victory. This win solidifies Janakpur’s position in the league standings and marks their entry into the playoffs, where they will look to maintain their momentum.
For Kathmandu Gurkhas, the loss is a significant setback, leaving them on the brink of elimination. The team’s inability to capitalize on key moments, particularly in their batting, highlighted their struggles in the tournament.
With their playoff spot secured, the Bolts have demonstrated consistency and resilience, making them strong contenders for the title. Fans eagerly anticipate their upcoming matches as the tournament heads into its decisive stages.

Karnali Yaks Set 129-Run Target for Lumbini Lions
Karnali Yaks posted 128/7 in 20 overs against Lumbini Lions in their Nepal Premier League clash. Contributions from the middle order, especially Sharad Vesawkar (30 runs) and Sunil Dhamala (25 runs), helped stabilize the innings after a shaky start. Lumbini Lions bowlers, led by Sompal Kami and Lalit Rajbanshi, kept Karnali’s scoring in check with disciplined bowling.
The Lions now face a manageable chase to secure their second win of the season.

Kathmandu Gurkhas Set Modest Target for Janakpur Bolts in NPL
Kathmandu Gurkhas, after opting to bat first, set Janakpur Bolts a modest target of 102 runs in their ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL) match. Kathmandu’s innings ended at 101/10 in 19.3 overs. They struggled throughout, with only Gerhard Erasmus (20) and Stephen Eskinazi (17) offering resistance. The rest of the batting line-up faltered, with notable contributions from Karan KC (19) and Shahab Alam (8*).
Janakpur’s bowlers dominated, with Lalit Rajbanshi and Sher Malla both taking three wickets each, while Mohammad Mohsin added two. The Bolts are now tasked with chasing a relatively low total to secure the win.
