WATCH: Ben Stokes claims screamer to dismiss Shreyas Iyer in 2nd innings of 2nd Test against India
Ben Stokes claimed a stunning running catch to send Shreyas Iyer back to the pavilion in the 2nd innings of the 2nd Test against India. India was 111/2 replying to England’s 253 at Vizag and England needed something special to get rid of the duo of Shreyas and Shubman Gill.
Ben Stokes provided exactly that. The England skipper took a marvelous catch and lifted the spirits of the visiting side. It was one of the best catches by a fielder in recent times and arguably the best in the ongoing series. What makes it so special is the fact that he had to cover a lot of distance to grab the catch.

Iyer tried to loft the ball over the long on. Tom Hartley pitched the ball up and invited the batter to take the aerial route. Iyer did exactly that. However, Iyer could not time it as well as he would have liked. As a result, the ball went over the mid-off fielder who was inside the circle.
A catch for the ages from Ben Stokes
Stokes had to run a lot towards the boundary ropes to even come close to the contact of the ball. The terrific fielder ran quickly towards the point of impact and ended up making a diving effort. Stokes covered more than 22 meters to get rid of Iyer.
In the end, Stokes successfully caught the ball and celebrated with a grim face. The fielders were delighted with the efforts of their skipper. There was a visible change of mood in the fielders as they knew that there could be an opening in the match from that point. As a result, England had a crack at the new batter, Rajat Patidar, and got his wicket too.
Rehan Ahmed’s ball was kept a bit low. The debutant tried to guide it towards the covers region. Unfortunately, there was an error in the judgement of the length. Patidar ended up edging the ball and Ben Foakes took a stunning catch behind the stumps. England got two wickets towards the end of the first session.

Mohammad Rizwan Faces Backlash for Underwhelming Knock in Pakistan’s Loss to South Africa
Mohammad Rizwan has come under heavy fire for his performance during Pakistan’s loss to South Africa in a high-stakes match. Critics described his innings as lackluster, accusing him of playing a “shameless” and “criminal” knock that failed to meet the demands of the situation. His inability to accelerate scoring when required drew ire from fans and analysts alike, with many questioning his intent and decision-making under pressure.
While Rizwan’s cautious approach ensured some stability, it proved inadequate against South Africa’s aggressive game plan. His inability to shift gears in critical moments ultimately hurt Pakistan’s chances, and his performance sparked a broader debate about his role and strategy in the team’s batting order. Some commentators were particularly scathing, questioning how Rizwan could reflect on his effort given the circumstances.
The incident has added to the scrutiny of Pakistan’s overall performance in the tournament, with many demanding better strategies and execution from key players. Rizwan, regarded as a pivotal figure in the lineup, now faces the challenge of responding to the criticism and delivering under pressure in future matches.
