‘Sirf team me mauka nahi milta’ – Fans react as Sanju Samson opens up about Rohit Sharma’s support despite not being in Team India’s plans

Rohit Sharma & Sanju Samson

The omission of Sanju Samson was the talk of the town when Team India announced their squad for the five-match T20I series against Australia. Despite performing decently in almost every Indian Premier League (IPL) season, the Kerala-born cricketer has always failed to make it to the Indian senior team. Some may say that he was not consistent whenever he got a chance in the Indian team. But at the same time, a counter-question has to be asked as to how many opportunities he received consistently compared to others.

He was picked in the Asia Cup 2023 squad but had to return when KL Rahul joined the squad after recovering from injury. He could not even find a place in the Asian Games squad where all the young players were selected. With all these, his chance in the 2023 ODI World Cup was clear, but everyone thought he would at least get an opportunity in the T20I series against Australia.

However, that too did not happen and fans are left wondering if Samson will ever be seen in the blue jersey again. Samsomn has always remained calm when some players have criticised or expressed frustration on social media in such situations and he did the same this time as well. Meanwhile, in a recent interview, Samson can be heard opening up about the support he received from current Indian captain Rohit Sharma.

The wicketkeeper batter said that he always got support from Rohit. In a chat with ‘I AM with Dhanya Varma’ YouTube channel, the 29-year-old said that the Mumbai Indians captain was the first to compliment him on his performance in the IPL.

“Rohit Sharma was the first or second person who came to me and talked. He told me ‘hey Sanju, wassup. You performed well in the IPL, but hit too many sixes against Mumbai Indians. You bat really well’. I had great support from him,” Samson said.

This is not the first time Samson has spoken about Rohit. Last year during the show ‘Breakfast with Champions’, Samson revealed that Rohit had offered to have dinner with him during the tour of New Zealand at the start of 2020.

“I remember I was in NZ, Rohit Sharma bhai was there, Virat Kohli bhai was there. You don’t know who to Approach, who to talk to, what to say, Rohit Bhai then came & said, come on, let’s go have dinner. I said oh okey sure let’s go bhaiya. It was very nice of him,” Samson had said.

Nepal Premier League Final

Nepal Premier League Final! Janakpur Bolts clinched the inaugural Nepal Premier League title by defeating Sudurpaschim Royals in a thrilling final. The Bolts showcased remarkable resilience, chasing down a target of 187 runs with five wickets in hand at the TU International Cricket Ground.

Sudurpaschim Royals, batting first, set a competitive total of 184 for nine wickets, led by Saif Zaib and Binod Bhandari. Zaib scored a solid 69 runs, while Bhandari added a crucial 41.
