‘Rassi jal gayi par bal nahi gaya’ – Fans ridicule Mohammad Hafeez over his comments after Pakistan’s loss to Australia in Perth Test
Pakistan lost the first test match in Perth by 360 runs in four days. It was a crushing blow for Shan Masood and his side after having been bowled out for 89 runs. Former Pakistan skipper Mohammad Hafeez has come out and said that he still believes his side can beat Australia.
Both teams now take a break for Christmas before the Boxing Day test in Melbourne starting on the 26th of December. The Australian team hasn’t lost a home Test match to Pakistan for over two decades.
Nathan Lyon created history with the ball as he became the third Australian bowler to notch up 500 test wickets. The 36-year-old also is just the eighth bowler to achieve the feat in this format of the game.
Mohammad Hafeez shows his confidence in Pakistan –
After the huge loss to Australia on Sunday former Pakistan skipper Mohammad Hafeez showed his support to the team. Currently serving as the team director the 43-year-old exuded confidence in his team bouncing back.
Speaking to the press after the game, Hafeez said “I’ve seen during our preparation the amount of talent these guys have. There’s no doubt that they can beat Australia here in Australia. But obviously, we couldn’t do that execution-wise. The plan was there and we prepared accordingly. I still believe that as a team, Pakistan can beat Australia here in Australia, but we must execute our skills when required,”
The former Pakistan skipper also said “We couldn’t execute our skills. We made plans for the team, but unfortunately, as a team, we couldn’t execute our plans. The guys wanted to, but they never applied themselves, to be honest. As a team, we made a couple of tactical errors. There were certain situations where we could have dominated. We were prepared, but our execution wasn’t great,”
Saud Shakeel was the top-scorer for his team as none of the other batters put up a fight. Earlier in the day Australia had declared their innings with an overall lead of 449 runs. Usman Khawaja was out for 90 failing to score a test ton just a day before his 37th birthday. Mitchell Marsh played well to score 63 not out which came off just 68 balls to demoralize the Pakistani bowlers.
