Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins stole the show during the IPL 2024 Auctions in Dubai. A total sum of INR 45.25 was spent on the two Australians by Kolkata and Hyderabad. However, during the uncapped players’ bidding process, two unknown and unheralded names stole the show.

Shubham Dubey and Sameer Rizvi were brought by Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings respectively. Both sides paid a huge sum for two players who have caught the imagination of their teams.

In this article, we cast a closer look at the two Indian youngsters who have created a storm during IPL 2024 auctions.

Unheralded Indian stars rake in the big bucks –

Dubey was brought by Rajasthan Royals during the IPL Auction 2024 for INR 5.8 Crores. The left-handed batter is known to be a big hitter of the ball towards the back end of the innings. Dubey plays for Vidarbha in the Indian domestic setup and is a left-handed batter with an ability to bowl useful off-spin.

In 20 T20 games, Dubey has scored 485 runs with a best of 58 not out and possesses a strike rate of 145.3. Considered a late bloomer Shubman Dubey made his domestic debut in 2021 in the T20 format.

The left-handed batter had a great Indian Domestic T20 tournament just a few months ago. In the 7 games Dubey played for his side the batter scored 221 runs with an average of 73.66 as well a strike rate of 187.28.

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings stumped up INR 8.4 Crores for Sameer Rizvi a young player from Uttar Pradesh. The 20-year-old right-handed batter has played 11 T20 games scoring 295 runs with a best of 75 not out. His average currently reads 49.16 and has a strike rate of 134.7.

During the Indian domestic T20 tournament, Sameer Rizvi hit 18 huge sixes which gives ample proof of his growing reputation. After the success of Rinku Singh, the IPL and Indian cricket are seeing newer names take the spotlight.

MS Dhoni is a huge proponent of young talents and a move to Chennai Super Kings could be the right move. Sameer Rizvi will get to learn a lot from the massive talents around him especially under the tall figure of Thala Dhoni.
