Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane has set his goal high for the upcoming days. The 35-year-old has been currently taking part in the Ranji Trophy 2024 for Mumbai. While his team is doing well, the star batter does not just want to be a part of the team but wants to contribute with the bat and help the side extend their winning record in the biggest domestic tournament in India.

Mumbai is the team with the greatest number of Ranji Trophy titles to their name. The domestic team from the western part of the country has been able to win the award for a record 41 times in the past. The second-best team in the list, Karnataka, have only 8 Ranji Trophy titles to their name. Rahane expressed his wish to win the 42nd Ranji Trophy for Mumbai.

Rahane has been finding it difficult to make a comeback to the side. Given the performances of the youngsters, the former Indian captain has not been able to break into the team. The star player aims to rectify all his past mistakes and to have a final peak in his Test career. In this regard, the middle-order batter has set new goals for his comeback in India.

Can Ajinkya Rahane play 100 Tests for India?

The right-handed batter aims to play 100 Test matches for India, which can be a huge milestone. At the same time, it seems a distant dream for Rahane at the moment. Ajinkya was in an interview recently where he revealed about his goals. “My goal is to secure both the Ranji Trophy & bigger objective of playing in 100 Test matches for India,” said Rahane in the interview.

Rahane is not even in contention in India’s Test line-up. The Indian batter has played 85 Test matches till now and does not have much time left in international cricket. At 35, Rahane has not been a consistent batter. The selectors have their reasons for not backing the experienced batter. With time running quick for Rahane, it is to be seen if he can play 100 Tests for India.
