Games of the Future MLBB

The Games of the Future (GOF) 2024, a multi-game event, is set to feature a Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) tournament. Sixteen invited teams will compete for a $1 million prize pool.

The tournament will take place offline in front of a live audience in Russia. Group Stages will be held at the Korston Club Hotel, while Playoffs will take place at the Kazan Expo. There were some calls for a protest, however, most people believe that games should not be mixed with politics.

MLBB is currently the most popular mobile game with a huge community backing and esports scene. It was also the hosted watched mobile esports title of 2023. The upcoming event will see some of the popular teams in the scene like RRQ Hoshi, Team Lilgun and more.

Nintendo Switch 2 not coming this year

Nintendo Switch

Bad news for Nintendo fans, as recent reports now suggest that will have to wait a bit more for the Switch 2. The company has moved the release window to at least March 2025.

Switch 2 was set to be the successor to the current Nintendo Switch that was launched back in March 2017. While the dated hardware is catching up with the device, it has provided players with some iconic games.

There have been many rumours floating around its successor and how it will be backwards compatible with better hardware. While none of this is confirmed, it makes sense that Nintendo will at least provide some competition.

Why is the release delayed?

The main reason for the delay is to avoid scalping issues as well as to have enough in stock for the customers. Nintendo Switch is one of the most popular handheld devices. It is one of the best-selling handheld consoles, right behind Nintendo DS and the PlayStation 2.

Back when it was released, many people were not able to get their hands on it. The company might be planning to have a steady launch.

As per reports from Japanese publication Nikkei, the earliest date for the launch of Nintendo Switch 2 is March 2025. This means that players might be stuck with their old devices this year.

However, it’s not as if the company is suddenly dropping support. Nintendo’s president last year confirmed that the Switch will get new games until at least March 2025. This statement further aligns with the motive to release next year.

Also, if the rumours of backwards compatibility and larger screens are true, players will be able to experience their older games on better settings and even better visuals.

Windows users to get hot patching function this year

HiFi Rush

An upcoming Windows update will add a handy new feature to your Windows 11 PC. Users will soon be able to update critical Windows updates without forcing a restart, thorough “hot patching”.

This is not something entirely new, in fact, Windows Azure editions are reportedly using this feature. As per reports, the latest Windows 11 Dev Channel build is testing the new ‘no-reboot’ security update on PCs.

The update will make use of the Virtualization Based Security option in modern PCs. Hot patching in Windows Azure edition works through ‘establishing a baseline with the current Cumulative Update for Windows Server’.

Your PC will still need to reboot

Now this is a conflicting statement, a moment ago, the new update would not require a reboot, however, pc reboot is back on the table. To solve this confusion, users need to understand that a baseline update every few months will still require a reboot.

With one baseline update every three months, users will need to reboot their PC only four times a year. After the baseline update, hot patches will update your PC without requiring restart for the next three months.

Update coming this year

Further reports suggest that the update will be released this year with Windows 11 version 24H2. While there is no official announcement if the update will be available to all users of select editions.

Another update coming this year is the Windows DirectSR, a similar upscaling technology to FSR and DLSS. It is possible that both things will come packaged together in the update. This will also come as a huge plus for the gamers.

Now, gaming isn’t the most important thing. However, having not to worry about restarting or playing on a low resolution is a huge bonus.

Deep Rock Galactic Survivors sells over half million copies in a week

Deep Rock Galactic Survivors

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, a spinoff auto-shooter for the Deep Rock Galactic game, has been pretty popular since its release. In fact, the game was so popular that it sold over 500,000 copies in a week.

For comparison, the original game sold the same amount in a year. However, the popularity of the original game sure helped the new one to get a strong start. The developers are beloved by the gaming community and implement things that players want.

“First of all, a huge thanks to all of you for making the early access launch exceed our wildest imagination. We never imagined the game would sell more than 500,000 units in just a week,” the developers said in their roadmap.

What is an auto shooter?

As the name suggests, auto-shooters are games where players do not have to manually fire a weapon. These games usually focus on other mechanics while the weapon you collected constantly shoots.

These games also come in the bullet hell category. A great example of a popular auto-shooter is Vampire Survivors, which gained a lot of popularity. For those who have played Vampire Survivors and Deep Rock, Galactic will find themselves at home.

The game combine elements from both games in a rouge-like gameplay, which for the most part is a great experience. You go around collecting items/resources while hordes of insects attack you. Those who do not like insects might have a hard time playing the game.

For a price less than $10, it is currently one of the best games to play. The game is set to implement a ton of content from previous game as well as new stuff in the future. These include boss fights, overclocks, new biomes and a lot of other things.
