Former England skipper slams Ravichandran Ashwin after Vizag Test

Team India may have won the Vizag Test but the English team isn’t in a mood to give them credit. Former England skipper Kevin Pietersen has slammed veteran bowler Ravichandran Ashwin after the game ended on Monday.

During his chat with Jio Cinema Kevin Pietersen said “Ashwin was just chasing milestone. That’s why he didn’t bowl well as he could have bowled. He did get it right on occasion. I thought he was way more threatening bowling wider out off-stump round the wicket”

Ravi Ashwin will head to Rajkot just one wicket shy of reaching the 500-wicket mark in test cricket. The 37-year-old is all set to become the 2nd fastest bowler to reach the feat after Muralitharan of Sri Lanka.

Indian bowling comes to the fore against England –

India’s 106-run win against England was down to the efforts of Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin. India’s spin ace got the wickets of Ben Duckett, and Ollie Pope. And Joe Root to dent England.

Rohit Sharma held onto a smart catch on the 4th day in just 0.45 seconds. Joe Root was out for 16 when he mishit a ball and was caught by Axar Patel for 16. This put Ashwin on 499 Test wickets, as the pressure of reaching 500 began to mount.

Tom Hartley was initially given out as Ashwin momentarily had the 500th wicket. The third umpire though gave the English batter not out to keep Ashwin 1-wicket shy. Rohit Sharma brought Ashwin back into the attack but Bumrah picked the final wicket.

Kevin Pietersen adding to his early thoughts also said “I’m certainly never going to say that he hasn’t got it or the England bowlers have found him out. He is a tremendous bowler and he’s got some big breakthroughs. It is about the team; it’s not about the individual. He will want one more wicket and when he gets that maybe you’ll see him a lot more relaxed, the shoulder drops and I can just now get on with the game”

During the Visakhapatnam Test, Ashwin was also seen getting angry at different stages. On day 1 the veteran spinner was arguing with umpire Marais Erasmus. James Anderson found himself in a heated argument with Ashwin on the 2nd day. On the 4th day, Ashwin was seen giving a verbal send-off to Jonny Bairstow.
