Another day, another thriller in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) women and UP Warriorz women were a part of a great game that was full of twists and turns. In the end, it was RCB women who held their nerves to seal a crunching game of cricket. Sobhana Asha and Richa Ghosh starred in the win for the home side who would be under huge confidence for the rest of the tournament.

Batting first, RCB women did not have a great start. Sophie Devine perished in the second over of the match. Smriti Mandhana did not have a great game either. Ellyse Perry could not do her magic, as RCB women saw themselves at 56/3 at one stage. That was when the duo of S Meghana and Richards Ghosh joined together and framed a good partnership.

The duo played with caution in the initial stage and took on the bowlers after getting set. While Meghana anchored the innings from her end and notched up a fifty for her name, Richa was the star of the show with her aggressive batting. The youngster scored 62 runs and helped in increasing the run rate. RCB women managed to post 157 runs on the board.

Chasing it, UP Warriorz lost the wicket of Alyssa Healy early. The slow knocks of Vrinda Dinesh and co did not help them either. Grace Harris provided the much-required momentum with her innings. Sobhana Asha was the star of the match. The leggie picked 5/22 in her spell and caused huge damage in the run chase of UP Warriorz. RCB women were on top due to her spell.

Towards the end, the match saw great twists. Some blows from Deepti and co threatened RCB women of costing the match. However, the bowlers of RCB in the death held their nerves to seal a crucial win. George Wareham and Molineux were brilliant at the death and starred in the thriller. As a result, RCB won the match by just 2 runs and made the home fans happy.
