Did Salman Khan’s ‘Tiger 3’ outshine Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’?

The much-anticipated release of “Tiger 3” had fans on the edge of their seats, fueled by the tantalizing promise that this time, it’s personal. The teasers and trailers, laden with political tensions between India and Pakistan, hinted at a storyline where India’s best R&AW agent, Tiger, would face heightened stakes with his family drawn into the conflict.

However, as audiences flocked to theatres with eager anticipation, they found themselves grappling with a film that failed to deliver on its “personal” tagline. The primary cause of this disconnect lies in the stark mismatch between the expectations set by the filmmakers in their promotional materials and the actual content of the movie.

Despite the tagline suggesting a deeply personal narrative, the film falls short of delivering a genuinely impactful connection between Tiger and the audience. Emraan Hashmi‘s character, Aatish, briefly capturing Tiger’s son doesn’t create the anticipated tension, leaving viewers questioning the authenticity of the touted personal angle.

Where did Tiger 3 really lack?

While Hrithik Roshan‘s post-credit scene attempts to inject some freshness, the overall predictability of the narrative leaves little room for a memorable viewing experience. Even the much-anticipated cameo by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the same action-hero zone as Tiger feels uninspired, worsened by subpar visual effects. Another aspect where Tiger 3 falls short is in its soundtrack.

With just two forgettable songs, the film misses the mark set by its predecessors, Ek Tha Tiger and Tiger Zinda Hai, both of which boasted instant hits. While the impact of music on a film’s box office success is debated, it undeniably plays a crucial role in shaping the overall cinematic experience.

In contrast, Shah Rukh’s box office giants, Pathaan and Jawan, manage to outshine Tiger 3 on multiple fronts. Their ability to deliver on promises, avoid formulaic traps, and create memorable soundtracks collectively positions them as superior products in the realm of Bollywood blockbusters. As the audience reflects on these contrasting cinematic experiences, the verdict is clear that Tiger 3 failed to roar.
