WATCH: Jasprit Bumrah’s light hearted banter towards Joe Root during 3rd Test against England

Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah has shown his exceptional performance as a bowler during the first three Tests vs England. The 30-year-old was taken aback on Sunday when England were chasing 557 to win the Rajkot Test.

The Indian pace ace could be heard saying, “Ab toh maar hi nahi rahe.” England’s slow approach was completely different from their ways of playing Bazball. James Anderson had said during the Vizag Test that England would look to chase down 600 runs.

Ben Stokes and his side lost the match by 434 runs to slip 2-1 in the series. Ravindra Jadeja picked five wickets with the ball to help his side secure a win. The next game in Ranchi is set to begin this Friday the 23rd of February.

Bumrah set to be rested in Ranchi?

As per the reports, the Indian Cricket Board has decided to rest Jasprit Bumrah for the 4th Test in Ranchi. It was earlier reported that the 30-year-old may not be part of the Rajkot game. Mohammed Siraj was rested for the 2nd Test in Vizag and made his way back to the team for this game.

In Bumrah’s absence, the team may elect to go in with one more spinner, probably Axar Patel. Mukesh Kumar or Akash Deep can also be considered if India wants to continue with 2 pacers.

KL Rahul according to sources from the Indian Cricket Board is set to be back in reckoning for the Ranchi Test. The 31-year-old didn’t play the Rajkot game as the team management felt he still wasn’t fit. Rajat Patidar is set to lose his place once KL Rahul comes back and takes the number four spot.

The 30-year-old Madhya Pradesh batter hasn’t been able to grab the chances that were given to him. In the two games that he has played, Patidar managed to score just 46 runs with an average of 11.5. His best of 32 came during his debut knock in the 1st innings of the Vizag game.

Ravichandran Ashwin will continue to be part of the Indian team for the next game as well. The veteran Indian bowler is just two games away from wearing his 100th Test cap. It was an eventful game in Rajkot for Ashwin as he went past the 500-Test wicket mark.
