‘Theatres mei aag lagega bhai’ – Fans react as popular digital media company confirms Yash’s cameo in upcoming film ‘Salaar’
Prabhas starrer ‘Salaar’ is expected to be very similar to Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in terms of a movie type. The chances for the same were even heightened when a popular digital media company, RVCJ, confirmed in a tweet that KGF star Yash will have a five-minute cameo in the upcoming film. This is Prabhas’s first project with Prashanth Neel who gave birth to the popular character turned cult figure, Rocky Bhai personified by Yash. The upcoming film is expected to be very similar with the same type of screenplay and Prabhas playing the role of a towering protagonist with a bundle full of action and violence sequences.
Fans are of the view that having Yash and Prabhas together sharing the screen would lead to all box office records. The same is currently overtaken by Sunny Deol. Fans are speculating for an INR 1500 crore plus collection for the movie. If that does stand true, the upcoming September could be a record-breaking month at the box office. The movie is set to be released on September 28. At the same time, Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Jawan’ is also coming in the same month.
Salaar minted 2.5 crores in advance booking in the USA
However, Neel has spoken at length about the differences between KGF and Salaar. He says both are very different movies while KGF became famous due to the tale of gold mining and smuggling, Salaar will have a towering villain cast opposite Prabhas. The role is personified by Prithviraj Sukumaran. Shruti Haasan is the female co-lead opposite Prabhas. The movie has already started off with the advance booking in the USA and has minted INR 2.5 crores. “Salaar continues to mint in huge numbers at the USA box office. Crosses the $300K mark and 10K tickets milestone. Advance sales – $334,108 [ ₹2.75 crore]. Locations – 290. Shows – 848. Tickets – 11639…” Film analyst Manobala Vijayabalan tweeted.
The teaser for the movie went live in July and crossed 100 million views. “Overwhelmed with gratitude! We are immensely grateful for the Overflowing love and support we have received from each and every one of you, for being an integral part of the Salaar revolution, an emblem of Indian cinema’s prowess. A resounding applause to our amazing fans and viewers for propelling the Indian Film Salaar teaser beyond 100 million views! Your unwavering support fuels our passion and drives us to deliver something truly extraordinary,” read a note from the film’s production, Hombale Films.

“Intelligent Stubbornness”: Manoj Bajpayee on Chasing Dreams and Staying Relevant
How does the son of a farmer from a small village in Bihar rise to stardom in the bustling and competitive world of Mumbai’s film industry? For Manoj Bajpayee, the answer lies in being “intelligently stubborn.”
The versatile actor, known for roles ranging from Bhiku Mhatre in Satya to Srikant Tiwari in The Family Man, attributes his success to his ability to navigate challenging circumstances without losing sight of his dreams. Speaking to PTI, Bajpayee reflected on his journey, which began in the village of Belwa and led to a celebrated career in both mainstream and arthouse cinema.
“You have to be intelligently stubborn and audacious,” Bajpayee shared. “Circumstances and situations will test you constantly and make you doubt yourself. But commitment to your dreams is what keeps you going.”
After his breakthrough role in Ram Gopal Varma’s 1998 underworld drama Satya, Bajpayee was inundated with offers to play similar roles. However, he was determined not to be typecast. “I was stubborn about not getting boxed into one type of role. The industry didn’t know what else to offer me, so they offered money. But I refused. I knew that if I became a villain, I might never escape that image,” he explained.
Bajpayee’s calculated defiance set him apart. Inspired by the careers of other actors like Irrfan Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Kay Kay Menon, he charted a unique path, taking on diverse roles in films such as Shool, Gangs of Wasseypur, Aligarh, and Sonchiriya. His adaptability extended to digital platforms, with standout performances in Gulmohar and The Family Man.
Growing up as one of six siblings, Bajpayee dreamed of acting despite his family’s limited means. At 17, he moved to Delhi, pursued education to honor his mother’s wishes, and immersed himself in theatre before heading to Mumbai. His persistence bore fruit with a small role in Drohkaal (1994) and recognition in Bandit Queen. His big break came with Satya, which not only launched his career but also inspired countless others from Bihar to chase their dreams.
“It wasn’t just my village; many young people from Bihar gained the courage to step out of their comfort zones after Satya. It showed them that if I could do it, they could too,” he said.
Despite his success, Bajpayee remains connected to his roots in Belwa. “When I was there, I wanted to leave. Now that I’ve achieved my dreams, I feel drawn back.”
Bajpayee’s upcoming project, Despatch, where he plays investigative journalist Joy Bag, will premiere on ZEE5 on December 13. His journey, defined by resilience and intelligent stubbornness, continues to inspire dreamers across the country.
