Shikhar Dhawan trolls Pakistani wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan for his funny running style

The New Zealand vs Pakistan 5-match T20I series has ended with the Kiwis winning the series 4-1. In the fourth T20I game, Mohammad Rizwan’s lone fight could not save Pakistan from another defeat against the Black Caps in Christchurch on Saturday. Rizwan scored an unbeaten 90 to lead Pakistan to a fighting 158 on a tricky batting wicket. Aside from his batting, Rizwan wowed the crowd with his entertaining on-field antics. Veteran India batter Shikhar Dhawan was also impressed by Rizwan, who mocked the batter for his amusing running between wickets.

The Men in Green are currently suffering as they have won one game in their last 10 games. They lost the series against Australia and then against the Kiwis ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. The management has changed after their dismal show in the ODI World Cup 2023, but the fortunes did not as their new T20I captain Shaheen Shah Afridi could not turn their fortunes.

Pakistan won the last game of the series by defending a target of 135 runs as they bowled the hosts out for just 92 runs. The only positive thing the visitors can take out from the series is the last game ahead of the major tournament. This was their last assignment before the T20 World Cup.

Dhawan trolls Rizwan

Taking to social media, Dhawan shared photos of Rizwan trying to complete the run with the use of his gloves. Dhawan captioned posting “Kabaddi Kabaddi Kabaddi.”

After the 4th T20I head coach Gary Stead said, “We’ve made a call to give Daryl Mitchell a break from this game. We’ve got some important Test matches leading up. Daryl’s a three-format player, so it’s really important that we do manage his workload over this period. He’s highly likely to play a big part in the rest of our [home] season. So we just thought this is an opportune time [to give him a break], given the series is won.” Finn Allen was named as the player of the series for his sensational performance.

Mohammad Rizwan has come under heavy fire for his performance during Pakistan’s loss to South Africa in a high-stakes match. Critics described his innings as lackluster, accusing him of playing a “shameless” and “criminal” knock that failed to meet the demands of the situation. His inability to accelerate scoring when required drew ire from fans and analysts alike, with many questioning his intent and decision-making under pressure.

While Rizwan’s cautious approach ensured some stability, it proved inadequate against South Africa’s aggressive game plan. His inability to shift gears in critical moments ultimately hurt Pakistan’s chances, and his performance sparked a broader debate about his role and strategy in the team’s batting order. Some commentators were particularly scathing, questioning how Rizwan could reflect on his effort given the circumstances.

The incident has added to the scrutiny of Pakistan’s overall performance in the tournament, with many demanding better strategies and execution from key players. Rizwan, regarded as a pivotal figure in the lineup, now faces the challenge of responding to the criticism and delivering under pressure in future matches.
