Shepherd blitz downs Jamaica Tallawahs
Guyana Amazon Warriors have got another win in the bag despite ending up with a low total in the first innings against Jamaica Tallawahs.
Shepherd sizzles with all-round performance
Nicholas Pooran registered a match-winning knock in the last clash.
When he failed to turn up in this clash, Romario Shepherd stood up to the occasion.
His 31-ball 72* was a crucial touch, a nail in the coffin for the Tallawahs in the 29th game of the Caribbean Premier League.
His fifty propelled the Warriors to 142/7 in 18 overs.
When it was his turn to bowl, Shepherd impressed once again.
The all-rounder dismissed Imad Wasim, Rovman Powell and Andre Russell to take away the hopes of the Jamaica fans.
With every power hitter back in the hut, Shepherd made it too easy for Pooran’s men to cross the line.
Eventually, Guyana Amazon Warriors won by 14 runs.
Tahir rises to the top
Imran Tahir never ceases to amaze in franchise cricket.
The South African spinner bowled two maiden overs and picked two scalps to his name.
He spun a web around the Tallawahs, while keeping the pressure on the opposition.
He did not concede any run in the two overs he bowled due to which others bowlers were able to make hay, due to the pressure.
Kirk McKenzie (3) and Kennar Lewis (0) were both his victims.
Guyana Amazon Warriors 142 for 7 (Shepherd 72*, Imad 3-15) beat Jamaica Tallawahs 128 (Smith 3-20, Shepherd 3-31) by 14 runs.
Thanks to Pollard, Riders overcome Patriots
Just when St Kitts & Nevis Patriots were looking to gather momentum after yesterday’s victory, they slumped to another loss.
This time, Trinbago Knight Riders feasted on Dwayne Bravo’s team.
Khan picks three wickets
Ali Khan proved why he deserves every right to be rated highly in franchise cricket. He dismissed Da Silva, Fabian Allen and Rutherford in his four overs. The American pacer never let the Patriots’ batters settle.
Whenever Bravo’s men seemed to extend their stay on the pitch, Khan was there to find a breakthrough for his team. His figures of 3-19 in four overs prove how significant his addition is in the middle overs.
Slow start costs Patriots the game
Patriots had a sluggish start to their inning. As a result, they set up a mediocre total of 147/7. Chris Gayle flopped, Jonatan Carter threw away his wicket to AJ Hosein and Sherfane Rutherford never set the tone.
Joshua Da Silva looked in fine touch for his 50, but he took 45 balls to register his half-century. Dwayne Bravo played a handy cameo of 25 (13), but the Riders had the Pats controlled by then.
Pollard show thumps Pats
Kieron Pollard changed the game in the second inning.
He struck a 22-ball fifty before DC Drakes dismissed him. His half-century made the run chase too easy to conquer.
In the end, Sri Lanka’s Isuru Udana delivered the goods with an over to go.
The bowling all-rounder smacked huge sixes in the 19th over to reach the target with four wickets in hand.
Trinbago Knight Riders 150 for 6 (Pollard 51) beat St Kitts and Nevis Patriots 147 for 7 (Da Silva 50, Khan 3-19) by four wickets.
Semi-finalists decided
With this, the semifinalists have been decided.
Trinbago Riders, St. Kitts Patriots, St. Lucia Kings and Guyana Warriors will be four teams contesting for the title.

Mohammad Rizwan Faces Backlash for Underwhelming Knock in Pakistan’s Loss to South Africa
Mohammad Rizwan has come under heavy fire for his performance during Pakistan’s loss to South Africa in a high-stakes match. Critics described his innings as lackluster, accusing him of playing a “shameless” and “criminal” knock that failed to meet the demands of the situation. His inability to accelerate scoring when required drew ire from fans and analysts alike, with many questioning his intent and decision-making under pressure.
While Rizwan’s cautious approach ensured some stability, it proved inadequate against South Africa’s aggressive game plan. His inability to shift gears in critical moments ultimately hurt Pakistan’s chances, and his performance sparked a broader debate about his role and strategy in the team’s batting order. Some commentators were particularly scathing, questioning how Rizwan could reflect on his effort given the circumstances.
The incident has added to the scrutiny of Pakistan’s overall performance in the tournament, with many demanding better strategies and execution from key players. Rizwan, regarded as a pivotal figure in the lineup, now faces the challenge of responding to the criticism and delivering under pressure in future matches.
