Shahid Afridi voices concern over son-in-law Shaheen Afridi’s disappointing performance against India in Asia Cup 2023
Pakistan Cricket team displayed a horrible all-round performance against India in the Super Fours clash in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. The Men in Green suffered an embarrassing 228-run loss to India due to which their fate is now dependent on the clash against Sri Lanka. Pakistan have to win the match in order to qualify for the finals where they will face the Men in Blue for the 3rd time in the tournament.
Pakistan’s star pacer Shaheen Afridi was thrashed by Indian batters as he conceded 79 runs in his 10 overs and he managed to take only 1 wicket. Former legendary Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi, who is also Shaheen’s father-in-law, criticised the pacer for his horrible performance. He believes that Shaheen’s line and length were not right in the match.
“Many people on social media questioned why Pakistan chose to bowl first after winning the toss. In my opinion, if Pakistan had bowled properly like Naseem Shah started off. But Shaheen’s line and length were not right in the match, where he wanted to bowl, it didn’t work out for him. In the initial overs, if Shaheen didn’t get wickets, it becomes frustrating for him because his reputation is such that he takes wickets early on,” Shahid was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
You have to find soft corners in cricket: Shahid Afridi
Shahid continued to criticise Shaheen and advised him to be consistent with his line and length. The former allrounder was disappointed with Shaheen’s performance and said that rather than finding any excuse he should focus on improving his performance.
“Shaheen needs to be consistent on his line and length. This is not an excuse that if you couldn’t deliver for one or two overs and then you get all angry at yourself. You have to find soft corners in cricket. He needs to refocus, the way he started his second spell it was good enough. So he should focus on that particular line and length. It is not obligatory always that you will get a wicket. If you’ll bowl in the right area, you will a wicket and chances of taking a wicket with a new ball are always higher,” he added.

Mohammad Rizwan Faces Backlash for Underwhelming Knock in Pakistan’s Loss to South Africa
Mohammad Rizwan has come under heavy fire for his performance during Pakistan’s loss to South Africa in a high-stakes match. Critics described his innings as lackluster, accusing him of playing a “shameless” and “criminal” knock that failed to meet the demands of the situation. His inability to accelerate scoring when required drew ire from fans and analysts alike, with many questioning his intent and decision-making under pressure.
While Rizwan’s cautious approach ensured some stability, it proved inadequate against South Africa’s aggressive game plan. His inability to shift gears in critical moments ultimately hurt Pakistan’s chances, and his performance sparked a broader debate about his role and strategy in the team’s batting order. Some commentators were particularly scathing, questioning how Rizwan could reflect on his effort given the circumstances.
The incident has added to the scrutiny of Pakistan’s overall performance in the tournament, with many demanding better strategies and execution from key players. Rizwan, regarded as a pivotal figure in the lineup, now faces the challenge of responding to the criticism and delivering under pressure in future matches.

Andy Roberts Declares Mohammed Shami as India’s Best Bowler

Roberts critiqued Mohammed Siraj, stating he has yet to reach the same level as Bumrah and Shami.
