The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad hosted the much-awaited clash of the 2023 ODI World Cup between India and Pakistan on Saturday, October 14. The world’s largest stadium was jam-packed with Indian fans who came to cheer for their team and favourite stars. In return, they were well treated by Rohit Sharma and Co. with an emphatic seven-wicket victory.

Over 100,000 spectators were present in the stadium to witness the ‘mother of all battles’. Ahead of the high-octane encounter, there was a grand musical ceremony – a consolation to fans from the Indian Cricket Board for not holding an opening ceremony for the marquee event. Titled ‘Musical Odyssey’, the event featured performances by some of India’s finest artists including Shankar Mahadevan, Arijit Singh, Sukhwinder Singh and Neha Kakkar.

The event started at 12:30 PM (IST) and fans were allowed to enter the venue four hours before the match. The musical event and the subsequent showpiece encounter were attended by many celebrities, including legendary actors Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan. Bollywood actresses Anushka Sharma and Urvashi Rautela were also present to support Team India.

Fans flood Rautela’s comment section with Rishabh Pant’s name

Meanwhile, Rautela, an Indian actress and model who predominantly works in Hindi films, could not enjoy the success of the Indian team. The actress claimed in a social media post that she lost her phone during the match at the Narendra Modi Stadium. She also appealed to anyone who finds her ’24 carat real gold iPhone’ to return it.

“Lost my 24 carat real gold i phone at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad! 🏟️ If anyone comes across it, please help. Contact me ASAP!,” Rautela wrote. She also tagged social media handles of Ahmedabad Stadium and Ahmedabad police.

She had posted a video on her Instagram account on her way to the Narendra Modi Stadium showing tickets for the IND-PAK match. Later, the 29-year-old, donning a blue-coloured outfit, shared a glimpse of her enjoying the match and cheering for Team India.

Nepal Premier League Final

Nepal Premier League Final! Janakpur Bolts clinched the inaugural Nepal Premier League title by defeating Sudurpaschim Royals in a thrilling final. The Bolts showcased remarkable resilience, chasing down a target of 187 runs with five wickets in hand at the TU International Cricket Ground.

Sudurpaschim Royals, batting first, set a competitive total of 184 for nine wickets, led by Saif Zaib and Binod Bhandari. Zaib scored a solid 69 runs, while Bhandari added a crucial 41. However, their middle order failed to capitalize on a strong start, succumbing to disciplined bowling from Janakpur’s attack.

Kishor Mahato and Mohammad Mohisin starred with the ball for Janakpur, each claiming three wickets. Lalit Rajbanshi bowled an exceptional spell, conceding just 15 runs, including a maiden over. Their efforts restricted Sudurpaschim from posting a more imposing total.

In response, Janakpur’s Lahiru Milantha led the charge with a stunning 87 runs off 49 balls, including six fours and as many sixes. His innings anchored the chase, despite early pressure from Sudurpaschim’s bowlers. Aasif Sheikh, the Janakpur captain, played a vital supporting role, ensuring a composed finish.

This victory is a milestone for Nepali cricket, highlighting the league’s competitiveness and its potential to elevate local talent. Fans celebrated the intense final, hopeful for the league’s promising future.
