The Australian cricket team are having a hard time in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. They are currently at the bottom of the points table after losing their first 2 matches against India and South Africa respectively. The major concern for the Australian team management is the failure of the opening batter Mitchell Marsh in both matches.

Meanwhile, the Kangaroos have taken a sigh of relief as their star left-handed opener Travis Head has left Australia to take place in the ongoing major tournament in India. Head left for India on Monday, October 16, however, it’d be interesting to see from when he will start playing. Head injured his left hand during the ODI series against South Africa, however, now he has recovered and is set to return to the squad. Head also talked about the surgery recently.

“It’s coming along well, and probably better than we hoped, when we decided not to go with surgery, which would have meant a 10-week recovery, we were told it would be a minimum of six weeks with the splint before we could look at playing again.” Head was quoted as saying by One Cricket.

Everything would need to progress perfectly from here: Travis Head

Head further explained and said that considering the recovery time, he should be available for Australia’s clash against the Netherlands which will take place on October 25 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

“Following this plan, the Netherlands match is just under six weeks from the impact, and it’s quite an ambitious target. Everything would need to progress perfectly from here to meet that deadline.”However, we’ll assess how things develop in the coming days, and I’m eagerly looking forward to the possibility of reuniting with the team overseas later this week.” Head said.

Mohammad Rizwan has come under heavy fire for his performance during Pakistan’s loss to South Africa in a high-stakes match. Critics described his innings as lackluster, accusing him of playing a “shameless” and “criminal” knock that failed to meet the demands of the situation. His inability to accelerate scoring when required drew ire from fans and analysts alike, with many questioning his intent and decision-making under pressure.

While Rizwan’s cautious approach ensured some stability, it proved inadequate against South Africa’s aggressive game plan. His inability to shift gears in critical moments ultimately hurt Pakistan’s chances, and his performance sparked a broader debate about his role and strategy in the team’s batting order. Some commentators were particularly scathing, questioning how Rizwan could reflect on his effort given the circumstances.

The incident has added to the scrutiny of Pakistan’s overall performance in the tournament, with many demanding better strategies and execution from key players.
