Bipasha Basu with husband and daughter

Popular Bollywood couple Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover welcomed their baby daughter ‘Devi’ in November 2022. While their parenting journey looked fulfilling from the outside, Basu made a huge revelation recently. She revealed in an Instagram live chat with fellow actress Neha Dhupia recently that their daughter was born with two holes in her heart and she had to undergo surgery for the same. Naturally, Basu broke down in the middle of the interaction.

“You feel so sad, burdened, and conflicted because how can you put such a small child in an open-heart surgery,” Bipasha said, controlling her tears. She added that they manifested their thoughts that it would happen on its own. “The first time we did the scan, it didn’t happen. The next month it didn’t. When we went for the third month, I pretty much had done the research, spoken to surgeons, doctors and been to hospitals,” Bipasha shared, as she broke down.

‘If you love your child, you must do it however difficult’ – Bipasha Basu

The actress further revealed that her husband Karan had trouble accepting the reality but she stayed strong and wanted to heal her daughter at all costs. “I knew she had to be okay. I knew she would be okay. And today, she is okay. It was about getting the operation done at the right time, the right place. But if you love your child, you must do it however difficult (it can be). It’s for the future of your child. Devi had a very successful operation, and I never had a doubt about it. But the six hours that she was in the OT, my life felt like it stopped,” she said.

“Karan was a mess, and I had to even throw him out of the ICU sometimes. When I saw her in the ICU first time with all the monitors and a dressing bandage in the middle of her chest, she was lying there as a hero. Devi is our brave heart and very powerful.” The infant even made an appearance in the live with Neha Dhupia. “Yes, she has a scar on her chest and it’s her badge of honour. Knowing she’s my daughter, she would flaunt it and wear low cleavage,” the Jism actress laughed and concluded on the matter.

Anupam Kher portrayed Dr. Manmohan Singh in The Accidental Prime Minister. Kher admitted that he initially hesitated to take on the role. He feared his portrayal might be misunderstood. “Mujhe laga ki main ye role karunga toh log kahengi ki shayad maine unka ye mazak karne ke liye film ki hai,” Kher said.
