The match between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi was one of its kind. It was nothing short of a roller coaster journey. Just when one thought the game to be in one’s favour, the other side packed a huge punch. That was how the game went, which proved to be an entertaining one for the fans. In the end, Peshawar Zalmi won by just eight runs.

Batting first, Peshawar posted 201 runs on the board, thanks to a brilliant hundred from Babar Azam. The star batter registered his record 11th T20 ton and shined with the bat. In his stay in the middle, Babar scored 111 runs in 63 balls, which included 14 fours and two sixes. Saim Ayub at the other end smashed 38(21). Abid Ali’s finishing proved to be handy for Peshawar.

202 was not a difficult target. But Islamabad lost three early wickets. That was when the duo of Colin Munro and Azam Khan framed a fantastic partnership for the 4th wicket. When the two batted in the middle, it seemed like an easy ride for the chasing side. Munro was the anchor from his end who scored 71 runs in 53 balls which included seven fours and a six.

Unreal collapse from Islamabad United

Azam Khan was the star of the show smashing 75 runs in 30 balls. The star batter hit six fours and sixes respectively in his explosive knock which came at an SR of 250. When the two were in the middle, United needed just 21 runs in the last 13 balls. That was when the grand collapse of Islamabad United began. They first lost Azam Khan. It opened the floodgates for Zalmi, who pounced on the opportunity.

Arif Yaqoob was the wrecker-in-chief for Zalmi. He claimed a whopping four wickets in the 19th over and turned the game on its tide. From 181/3, United saw themselves at 183/8 in a matter of seven balls, which would go down as the most insane collapse in the history if cricket. From a comfortable position, United ended up losing the game by 8 runs in a matter of few minutes.
