IPL 2024: CSK and GT set to battle it out for one player? Ravichandran Ashwin makes huge statement

India’s veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is excited about the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction which is set to take place in Dubai on the 19th of December. According to the Indian spin bowler, one player could go for huge bucks as Chennai Super Kings 9CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) could make huge bids.

On Sunday, each and every team made their choice to retain and release the players ahead of the IPL Auction 2024. Teams like Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders released some huge names.

Released star set to be prized catch during IPL Auctions?

Ashwin took to his YouTube channel and spoke about Shah Rukh Khan the 28-year-old recently released Punjab Kings. According to the veteran Indian bowler, both Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans could go all-out to land the Tamil Nadu star.

“I can definitely see a war between CSK and Gujarat for Shahrukh Khan. Gujarat have let go of Hardik Pandya. Gujarat needs a player who can finish the innings, a sort of power player.  and they need a power player. Shahrukh was at INR 9 crore At Kings, and I though he showed his skills pretty well. Is it a decent release? Because I think he might end up going for Rs 12-13 crore again”

Since Shah Rukh Khan is a local Chennai lad this might work in favour of CSK according to Ravi Ashwin. “CSK might even take a chance of missing out on Mitchell Starc to get Shahrukh Khan because they don’t have a local player or a presence. They went for Shahrukh Khan in the mega auction, and that’s why I’m guessing so.” Ashwin was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Speaking about his former side Chennai Super Kings, Ravichandran Ashwin certainly thinks that Ruturaj Gaikwad is set to be the next skipper. “The holes that CSK will try to fill are ones of captaincy, which I believe Ruturaj Gaikwad is set to take over as Ambati Rayudu said in his latest interview”

Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a blistering century during the 3rd T20 versus Australia in Guwahati. The 26-year-old batter scored 123 not out to become the first-ever Indian batter to hit a century against Australia in the format of the game. Despite scoring 222 runs, Glenn Maxwell’s century, coupled with sloppy bowling and fielding from India cost them the match.
