Pakistan and Sri Lanka are currently clashing against each other in the 2nd Test of the 2-match Test series, which is being played at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. Pakistan have already won the first Test by 4 wickets and are again in a strong position in the 2nd Test as well.

Meanwhile, Pakistan opener Abdullah Shafique smashed his maiden double-century in the first innings of the match. Shafique played a phenomenal knock of 201 runs off 326 balls, which included 19 fours and four sixes. Shafique achieved this feat in the 109th over of Pakistan’s first innings. Many fans have reacted to this feat of Shafique and appreciated him on social media for achieving this special milestone.

Shafique has been consistently performing for Pakistan as an opener in the longest format. The right-handed batter has appeared in 26 Test innings so far and scored 1220 runs at an average of 53.04, which included 4 centuries and as many half-centuries with the highest score of 201 runs.

A brilliant all-round performance by Pakistan

Talking about the match, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first. However, the decision backfired as they were bundled out for just 166 runs in the first innings. No other batters except Dhanajaya de Silva were able to produce anything special to the scoreboard. De Silva scored 57 runs which included 9 fours and 1 six.

Abrar Ahmed and Naseem Shah were the star bowlers for Pakistan as Ahmed took 4 wickets while Naseem managed to take 3 wickets. Shaheen Afridi also got a breakthrough. Apart from these, Sri Lanka also faced 2 run-outs. In reply, Pakistan also had a bad start as Imam-ul-Haq went back to the pavilion after scoring just 6 runs.

However, the upcoming batters didn’t give any chance to Sri Lanka to make a comeback in the match. Pakistan have already crossed the 500-run mark and the lead has also gone more than 300. Apart from Shafique, Shan Masood, Saud Shakeel and Agha Salman also hit half-centuries.

Gautam Gambhir Criticized for Treatment of Ravindra Jadeja Despite Stellar All-Rounder Stats

Gautam Gambhir, a former Indian cricketer and current commentator, is under fire for his comments regarding Ravindra Jadeja’s one of India’s premier all-rounders. Fans and analysts have taken issue with Gambhir’s critique, especially in light of Ravindra Jadeja’s remarkable achievements that position him among the game’s elite players.

Ravindra Jadeja, the ICC’s No. 1-ranked all-rounder, boasts impressive statistics that surpass even some of cricket’s legends, including Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, in certain contexts. His contributions with both bat and ball have been crucial for India in all formats of the game, yet Gambhir’s recent remarks seem to downplay these feats.

Statistically, Jadeja’s consistency is unparalleled. He has maintained high averages and strike rates while excelling in bowling under pressure. Fans argue that comparing his numbers to cricket greats reveals his immense value to Indian cricket. His performances in Test matches, particularly in challenging overseas conditions, have been instrumental in India’s success.

Critics of Gambhir’s stance assert that his remarks undermine Jadeja’s legacy as an all-rounder. Social media platforms were flooded with support for Jadeja, highlighting his match-winning contributions and unmatched versatility. Fans have called for greater recognition of the all-rounder’s achievements, urging commentators like Gambhir to acknowledge his importance.
