India vs Pakistan

Gautam Gambhir has given his opinion on the rivalry between India and Pakistan in recent times. The former Indian cricketer believes that India is superior to Pakistan in all the formats of the game. The former Indian batter felt that Pakistan are no longer a rival of India as they do not compete well against the fellow Asian side, which has reached a different level in cricket.

Speaking about the same on a show, Gambhir felt that India beating Pakistan is a given. But if Pakistan manages to beat India these days, it can be termed an upset. “Pakistan has dominated India a lot of times. Currently, if you see the level of both teams, India is far superior to Pakistan in all three formats. If Pakistan defeats India, it’s an upset, if India defeats Pakistan, it’s very much given,” said Gambhir.

Gambhir added that the true rival of India in recent times is Australia. Gambhir felt that India vs Australia is the top rivalry involving India from the cricketing point of view. Gambhir felt that any true cricket fan would feel the same if asked. “India and Australia, from a cricketing point of view, is a top rivalry. If you ask a cricket fan what the actual rivalry is, they will also say India and Australia,” added Gambhir.

The rivalry between India, Pakistan, and Australia

In the past, India’s rivalry with Pakistan was intense and the two teams used to produce intense games when on the field. In the 1990s, India and Pakistan were involved in peak rivalry, where all the players from both times used to give their best. But gradually, India grew to be a better team and Pakistan has not challenged India much in recent times.

At the moment, in the last 25 years, Australia has been the biggest rival of India. Starting from the Border Gavaskar trophy in 2001, the two teams have come against each other to produce fantastic matches. Although Australia has dominated India in the major matches, India still holds their own, particularly in Test matches, where they have been highly competitive.
