‘Babar Azam khush hua’ – Fans react as Nepal qualifies for T20 World Cup 2024, alongside Oman from Asia region
Asian teams, Nepal and Oman have qualified for the T20 World Cup 2024, to be played in the West Indies and the USA. In the semifinal games of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 qualification in the Asia region, the first semi was played between Oman and Bahrain. In this game, the Bahrain side won the toss and elected to bat first.
Apart from the 42-run partnership for the second wicket between Sarfaraz Ali and Imran Ali, the team was never in the game. In the end, they batted out the 20 overs and managed only 106/9. Only three batters managed to get a double-digit figure. For the Oman side, Aqib Ilyas took four wickets while Shakeel Ahmed took two.
On the other hand, Bilal Khan, Fayyaz Butt, and Zeeshan Maqsood took one wicket each. In reply, the now-qualified Oman side, which played in the T20 World Cup 2021, won the game by 10 wickets. The likes of Kashyap Prajapati and Pratik Athavale scored a fifty each and helped the team win the game and book a spot in the 2024 event.
Nepal joins Oman in their journey to the Americas
In the second semifinal, hosts Nepal played UAE, which played in last year’s T20 World Cup. The United Arab Emirates won the toss and elected to bat first. Once again, batting first didn’t help a team at all. Apart from Vritiya Aravind (64), no other player could apply themselves.
With this, the team was restricted to 134/9 with Kushal Malla taking three wickets. On the other hand, Sandeep Lamichhane took two while Sompal Kami and skipper Rohit Paudel took a wicket each. In reply, despite losing Kushal Bhurtel early and Gulshan Jha not making enough impact, the team won the game by eight wickets. Aasif Sheikh scored an unbeaten 64 runs. With only two spots left in the Asia region, both teams have qualified for the final of the ongoing qualifier and the T20 World Cup next year.

Ravichandran Ashwin Reveals Travis Head’s Tactics Against Bumrah
Ravi Ashwin has unveiled Travis Head’s strategic approach to countering Jasprit Bumrah and India’s bowling attack. During a recent discussion, Ashwin analyzed Head’s clever ploys on the field, which played a pivotal role in his performance.
According to Ravi Ashwin, Head adjusted his batting stance to disrupt Bumrah’s bowling rhythm. This minor but effective tweak allowed Head to execute his shots more confidently. Ashwin emphasized that such tactical adjustments reflect Head’s understanding of the game.
Head’s strategy involved standing outside the crease to negate Bumrah’s swing and reduce his effectiveness. This move put pressure on the Indian bowlers, forcing them to alter their lengths. Ashwin acknowledged the intelligence behind this approach, calling it a calculated risk.
Ashwin also highlighted Head’s ability to target specific bowlers, capitalizing on their weaknesses. By playing aggressively, Head shifted the momentum in his team’s favor. This strategy demonstrated his adaptability and composure under pressure.
India’s bowling unit struggled to contain Head’s counterattacking style. His approach exposed gaps in India’s plans, prompting them to reassess their strategies. Ashwin noted that such performances underscore the importance of adaptability in international cricket.
The revelation sheds light on how top players study and exploit their opponents. It also emphasizes the need for constant evolution in cricket tactics. Ashwin’s insights provide valuable lessons for players and fans, highlighting the game’s strategic depth.
