‘Accha hua dive nahi maari’ – Fans react to Rakheem Cornwall’s hilarious run-out dismissal during CPL 2023 match Text – A dismissal like no other!
The 2nd match of the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) was played between Saint Lucia Kings and Barbados Royals at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia on Thursday, August 17. Saint Lucia produced a magnificent all-round performance and defeated the Royals by 54 runs.
Meanwhile, a hilarious incident took place during 1st delivery of the second innings of the match. Barbados’ opener Rakheem Cornwall chipped the ball to short fine-leg and ran for a single. Chris Sole failed to collect the ball at the first attempt but he didn’t take too much time to get the ball again and threw it towards the non-strikers’ end. Cornwall was jogging casually and eventually got himself short of the crease as the ball hit the stumps. Many fans have reacted to the bizarre dismissal and trolled Cornwall.

Talking about the match, the Kings won the toss and opted to bat first. Openers Johnson Charles and Faf du Plessis provided a destructive start to the team as both stitched a 61-run partnership for the 1st wicket. However, the Kings lost Charles in the last over of the powerplay. He scored 30 runs off 19 balls which included 5 fours and 1 six.
Horrible batting performance by Barbados Royals
Du Plessis then joined hands with Sean Williams and stitched a 44-run stand for the 3rd wicket. The former South African skipper was dismissed on the score of 46 runs and smashed 4 fours and 2 sixes during the knock. Williams’s 47-run knock and Sikander Raza’s 23-run cameo helped the Kings to achieve a monumental total of 201 runs.
Jason Holder and Qais Ahmad were the only bowlers who took the wickets. Holder picked up 4 wickets while Ahmad took 2 wickets in their 4-over quota. Chasing the target, the Royals started horribly as they lost their 4 wickets on the score of just 21 runs. Nyeem Young was the only batter who performed well and scored 48 runs but he didn’t get the support from any other batter as the Royals were bundled out on just 147 runs.

“I feel we are unbeatable now” – Fabian Allen
After winning the Player of the Match award during the post-match presentation, Allen said that it was a good feeling for him to execute his plans accurately. He said: “(On the surface) It is a difficult surface. We just bowled in the right areas and it paid off. (On the bowling attack) The experience is good. We have been doing well for the last two games. (On stepping up after Amir’s injury) That is what big players do – we are always ready for the challenge. Nice for me to execute.”
“(On what makes this team dangerous) We are confident. We won it last year from a similar position and hopefully we can win it again. (Who they would want to face) I will take any team. I feel we are unbeatable now (smiles),” Allen concluded.
JMT skipper, Brandon King also claimed that the entire bowling attack delighted him, especially Fabian Allen. He said: “Fabian came up trumps tonight. He bowled an incredible spell.
