‘Zindagi bhar yaad rahe isko ye 1 over’ – Fans react as Harish Rauf gets thrashed for 24 runs in his 1st over against Australia in ODI World Cup 2023 clash

The 18th match of the 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup is being played between Australia and Pakistan at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, October 20. The fans are already geared up to witness an electrifying clash between cricketing giants. Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, won the toss and opted to bowl first, a decision that would set the stage for a thrilling encounter.

Australia’s opening duo, David Warner and Mitchell Marsh gave their team a robust start, confidently facing Pakistan’s formidable bowling attack. Shaheen Afridi, one of Pakistan’s premier fast bowlers, conceded only 14 runs in his four overs, while Hasan Ali kept the pressure on with just 13 runs. 

However, the turning point came when Babar Azam introduced Iftikhar Ahmed into the attack in the 8th over, who conceded a mere six runs, taking Australia’s score to 43 runs in eight overs. But the 9th over of the innings proved to be the pivotal moment as the Australian batters launched an assault on Pakistan’s ace fast bowler, Haris Rauf. 

David Warner was dropped in the 5th over

Warner and Marsh unleashed a flurry of boundaries, hammering Rauf’s deliveries for 4 fours and a massive six, accumulating 24 runs in a single over. This explosive onslaught displayed the incredible prowess of Australia’s opening pair and left Pakistan searching for answers.

Haris Rauf, known for his ability to deliver fiery spells, found himself on the receiving end of Warner and Marsh’s explosive batting. The pair’s relentless aggression not only boosted Australia’s score but also dealt a significant blow to Pakistan’s confidence.

The Men in Green could’ve avoided this situation if their World Cup debutant Usama Mir hadn’t dropped Warner in the 5th over of the 1st innings. Australia were only 22/0 at that stage and the Pakistan bowlers could’ve created a lot of pressure on the Kangaroos, however now the Pakistan team will have to pray that Warner doesn’t make them pay a lot.
