India and Pakistan are set to take on each other in their first T20 World Cup 2024 match. The tournament is set to be jointly hosted by the West Indies and the USA will see the two Titans playing each other in New York. The reports suggest that the match between the two teams is expected to boost the cricket culture in the USA.

In the past, reports suggested that a new stadium would be built for cricket in New York. The stadium is set to be built in Eisenhower Park, 30 miles east of New York. The total area of the stadium will reportedly be around 930 acres in East Meadow. The dreams of cricket fans in New York are set to be fulfilled with the construction of the stadium and the allotment of the big match.

In August, the first Indian American woman member of the state assembly, Jenifer Rajkumar, had requested the international cricket board’s President, Greg Barclay, to allow some matches to happen in her state. Rajkumar had written a letter to the President of the International Cricket Board. She had claimed to be a big fan of cricket and played cricket in her childhood days with her cousins.

Jenifer Rajkumar’s letter to Greg Barclay

“On behalf of tens of thousands of New York cricket fans, I write to implore you (Barclay) to select New York City as the host for the ICC World Cup. I am a proud supporter of cricket, having played the sport as a child with my cousins in India,” Rajkumar wrote in her August letter. Looks like Greg Barclay has considered the request of Rajkumar.

Rajkumar further said that New York has welcomed people from different parts of the world and has a lot of cricket fans. “Our love of cricket is due in no small part to New York City being the cross-section of the world. We have welcomed people from all nations where cricket is a national pastime,” added Rajkumar in her letter to Greg Barclay.
