In the 17th game of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, India and Bangladesh played each other at the Gahunje Stadium, Pune. Ahead of the game, the Tigers were coming off two massive losses against England and New Zealand. On the other hand, the home side had created a hat-trick of wins. Meanwhile, in this game, the Green Brigade won the toss and batted first.

They had a great start although the home side failed to take an LBW review against Tanzid Hasan. Meanwhile, he and Litton Das put together the highest runs as an opening pair in an ODI World Cup game. They amassed 93 runs for the first wicket. However, the team failed to capitalize on the start as the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohammed Siraj combined to take four wickets, and the batting side was reduced to 137/4.

The likes of wicketkeeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim and Towhid Hridoy put together 42 runs but the partnership was broken by Shardul Thakur as he removed Hridoy. After this, the Tigers couldn’t do much and were restricted to 256/8. For the former champions, Jasprit Bumrah, Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each. On the other hand, Yadav and Thakur took one each.

India registered a massive win again, this time against Bangladesh

Bangladesh, who was looking for their second ODI World Cup over India, was never in the game with the ball as well. Once again, skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill not just put together 88 runs in 12.4 overs. They also belted the Bangladesh bowlers.

While the latter scored his maiden ODI WC fifty, Sharma scored a 48 to carry his form. Meanwhile, former India skipper Virat Kohli, who hadn’t scored an ODI WC hundred since 2015, managed to get it right in the end. When the last 20 runs were left in the game, Kohli also needed the same runs to get his 48th ODI hundred. In the end, the team won the game by seven wickets.
